Just picked up my new Z3

Post by JohnL »

Picked up this at the weekend:

Have been in love with the Z3 ever since they came out and now that prices have fallen a bit this was finally within my reach. It's only a 1.9 but I'm more of a cruiser than a racer anyway. 1998, 85000 miles on the clock and I bought it for £1450 which I think is a pretty decent price. Already have a long list of things I'd like to do on the car, want to add some roll hoops first, replace the side badges as they're a bit tatty and swap my centre console for the M version.

Anyway, have found this forum very useful whilst looking up possible issues with Z3s so just thought I'd say hello.

Is it my old eyes or do you need to add the passenger door mirror to your list? Bargain price though bud :)

Door mirrors aren't bad, though they did have a pretty solid layer of dead flies on them which I've removed since that photo.....

Sorry mate, just thought the mirror looked a very different colour in your photo, must be the way the light is reflecting on it

No worries mate, as I said I think that was mostly dead flies....parked under a tree for that photo - the reflection makes it look like the lacquer's peeling all over the place :)

EDIT: looking at the photo again the mirror really does look like a different colour. Will look this evening as you might be right....

Rusted door mirrors is a common fault, it may have been changed.

Having had a look, they're definitely the same colour (though that's not to say that they haven't been replaced) think it was just dodgy lighting in the photo....

Bagged yourself a bargain there! Hopefully it enabled you to keep a bit aside to spend on fixing snags and gettig her up to your requirements. 85,000 miles is nothing on one of these engines if its been looked after with oil changes. :)

Almost identical story to me, 1998 1.9 bought about three weeks ago, 95K on the clock with very little wrong.
I would also like to fit roll hoops and wondered whether you ever got round to finding anything suitable?
