Hi from new Z3 owner in Surrey
Hi all just bought a 1999 red 2.8 Z3. Got quite a high mileage (98k) but full service history. Needs a good polish and under bonnet spruce up but nothing more than that (I hope). Last six years been into mx5's, have had six of them, but now taking my special off the road for a while (has a Rover 3.5 V8 in it) and needed something with a bit of grunt to replace it. A friend has a 2.8 and was quite impressed by it's performance and overall quality so thought I'd get one.
Will post some photos up once I've got it cleaned up
Cheers Andy

River 3.5 in an MX5, that's going to be interesting.
Welcome & read up on the tweaks you can do to improve on the Z. 2.8's are pretty robust so 98k is nicely run in if it's been properly maintained.

Cheers for the welcome. I live in Epsom and sometimes work in Sutton so know Wallington and I'm down in Woking quite a bit as have friends and family at Knaphill and West End.
I'll have a look round the forum when I have time seems to be quite a lot of info out there. Already seen a few things I'd like to do but I need to control myself as I tend to get carried away
I'm hoping the Z's will be up at Classic Silverstone as I usually go up there, I saw them all up there in 2012.
Also down at Goodwood for soft top Sunday which I think is in May this year
And yes Stu a Rover v8 in a mx5 is intresting, think thats the right description It's a rebuilt and upgraded Range Rover engine about 200bhp, but need to take it off the road to do a few jobs on it, always doing jobs on it thats why I've got a Z3. I'm hoping I won't spend so much time on the garage floor but more time enjoying the drive

Re: Hi from new Z3 owner in Surrey
Had a proper drive in it today, certainly has got the grunt I was looking for. Gearchange not as slick as I'm used to but will get used to it. Feels nice and solid and well built, sits on the road nicely, definitely going to enjoy it, not as nimble as a mx5 but the grunt more than makes up for that. Still no pictures as it's dark now and the car is filthy having driven round the country roads of East Sussex

Well gave it a good clean today, inside and out. Will start on the engine bay when weather has improved. One mishap, cracked the rear window when putting the hood down, needed replacing anyway, just have to find a supplier as will do that myself. Car came with a private plate but as none of the initials match mine will have to change my name

There's a few about. Don't know where you based or how much you want to spend but on the day I bought my red one I went to see a Palmetto green one in Kent, on autotrader for £4000. Stunning car had everything and condition was excellent, unfortunatley when I took it for a drive it was gutless so walked away. The dealer phoned me a few days later and the problem had been fixed, something to do with the the cat. Maybe worth a look now.
