Yet another from West Lancs (Ormskirk)

Hi
Well nearly as i don't actually own Z3 yet but am seriously thinking about it.
Am hoping to retire next year (will be 63) and have been into classic cars
all my life owning various sports cars IE MGC & Triumph TR both fitted
with straight 6 engines but my last restoration was a saloon i just hated, so
am now having withdrawal symptoms but don't want to do another resto.
I must admit that i am hesitating as i worry about complicated electronics
going wrong & being unable to afford to the repair bills of a modern car
being of the old school of plugs, points & SU's.I have not even lay'd a finger
on a Z3 let alone driven one so i'm still undecided yet whether to take
the leap.It will take a while before i commit as i'm waiting to find one
with the right combination of colour/mileage/price/history but am in
no hurry.Well maybe i will bump into some of you in the future as their
seems to be quite a few in Lancs!

Hi and welcome, that TR4 is stunning! All I can say is buy one, you won't regret it. They are such good value for money, you can't go far wrong. The knowledge on here is great and there's always someone happy to help if you land a problem. What combo are you after? I knew the combo I wanted and it didn't take long to find one. :)

Cheers
Dave

Am looking for a 2.2 possibly a 2.0 straight 6. Atlanta Blue/Black interior under 60K mls with good history at a sensible price.
I think it will take a while :-(
Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome Bob

Can't see much going wrong with that target choice. Z3s are still relatively "old school" in terms of DIY so I wouldn't worry too much about them being too high tech to work on without a BMW computer and degree in auto electronics :)

Welcome, your not far from me.

Good luck with your search which is all part of the fun.

Ps the 2.2 are the best all round Z3s IMHO

Hi

I too am from Ormskirk and can't believe It as it's such a small town

I am also looking for a z3 or z4, 3 litre.

I too can't wait to get one so just joined this forum to get some good info about them.

Mine will just be my weekend toy to go out in and will be my first convertible too so roll on the spring :-)

Woah! Loving the O-town massive on here!

I did live in Ormskirk (and also studied at Edge Hill a few years earlier), but sadly, due to complications with a tenancy, had to move else where, though I am still local-ish!

Your car is amazing, don't be scared of a Z3, they don't seem to be all that bad! Just bought my first!! :D

Ormsirk is taking over!! ha ha

I'm going to look at a Z4 3.0i in the morning so with a bit of luck if all goes well I could be the proud owner this time tomorrow :D :D

It's the colour I wanted and I do prefer the shape of the Z4 and the interior too but both Z3 and Z4 look lovely cars.

I've not driven one yet but under 6 secs to 60 I'm expecting some good fun tomorrow    :D

Welcome to the forum

You may (or may not!) have noticed my forum name.

There's a reason for it

I've owned this beaut for nearly 17 years :D

I'm sure that I recognise your 4A - have seen it a few years ago at Oulton Park, quite modified, used to be in Red Rose?

Anyway console yourself with the fact that BMW own the rights to the "Triumph" brand name (car only!)

That looks stunning for its age, has it been restored in any way the paint looks like new.
