angel eyes headlights upgrade for 1997 Z3

Post by GISPOT »

Hi there,
Has anyone previous experience of upgrading a late 1990's Z3 headlights with Angel eye units? I have a 1997 in great condition but the headlights are close to "unfit for purpose" in bad weather conditions. Any tips on what types to buy / wiring conversions needed / part numbers etc. will be very useful to know before I spend any money! Cheers, Simon C.

Do you mean adding angel eye units to your current lights, or replacing the whole headlight units with new ones?

Hi there,
Well, I'm motivated to change current ones primarily because front lens' are degraded. Then when looking around for replacements, a friend said why not upgrade to angel eyes unit at same time. So I guess I would look at both options with the need to polish up the current front lens' with some suitable compound if I went for just angel eye units. Could be less expensive provided I can improve the current lens' just by polishing them up with QUIXX or similar
Cheers.

Use the 3M headlight restorer for about £20 - they'll come up like new.

OK & thanks again. You sound very confident about this product's results.
So will most likely give it try first, at least

When I got my Z3 I was looking for some new headlights (oem). Eventually I realised that what I didn't like about mine was that they were a bid cloudy and just looked old. An hour with the 3M kit and it looked like my car had come to life at the front with nice, shiny headlights. I was amazed not only at how good the kit was, but at how much it 'lifts' the face of the car.

If you want an even cheaper option, you can use toothpaste as a cutting compound on them. Or if you don't believe this then T-Cut will work (I don't even know if they still sell this stuff nowadays!).

RockyDave polished his with the 3M kit and as been said they looked new when he'd finished. That's my first job of the season.....just waiting to feel a bit more sunshine on my back.
