Now arrived - new toy

The motor is a 331 Stroker (5.5 litre) professionally built with all high performance parts. Approx. 400 horse power. The motor has Scat crank and H-beam rods. J/E pistons. The top end is all Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, intake and carb. March pulleys. Motor and tranny has less then 4k miles. The paint is fresh and immaculate and has been painted the original Gold Nugget Special color with no orange peel. Replaced and new parts include rubber, chrome, dash, headliner, vinyl top, grill, Torque Thruster wheels, everything under the hood, AOD Transmission etc..

Very nice! Just out of interest did you buy it sight unseen or did you view it in California. I'm guessing that if it was the former there is enough documentary evidence given all of the work that you could buy with a certain degree of confidence?

nice ....i had a standard mustang when i was posted to Germany in my forces days ....... it was jet black standard 76 car i think ....... stunning condition . i got it from a local commanding officer ......... kept it for a year and made £1000 profit on it ........happy days

Sight unseen, buying this way is risky but I did as many checks on the Seller as possible.

There are Companies in the U.S that will do Vehicle Inspections for you.

Who sorts out and insures the transporting? Do you "buy" it on their forecourt (and you deal with the transporting), or at the docks at Felixstowe, or on your driveway (with them taking all the risk)?

Belgium E30 M3 was my target, but the price difference is not enough any more and I couldn't manage the risks efficiently.

I thought I was brave - just bought a new van £790 (12mths MOT, 6mths tax and 1/2 tank of diesel) .

I bought from a private seller, I contacted a Shipping company here in the UK. They arranged the collection and transportation from the USA to UK Port, I can collect when the HMRC Taxes are paid.

I'm then responsible for the Registration and MoT

Belgium E30 M3 was my target, but the price difference is not enough any more and I couldn't manage the risks efficiently.

Belgium would be easy, no import tax to pay and you can go and view the car and possibly drive it back.

Collected the car from Chatham Docks bright and early this morning.

Few minor jobs to finish like fitting screen trims and door locks and handles.

I had a cheeky drive around the block just to test things all ok.
