Rear tyre wear Z3

Post by mich »

Just had rear tyres replaced at 37000 kilometres, due to canvas showing and hanging out on inside edge [left rear was very bad] dealer said geometry was ok and that it is just the way the Z3 is set up ?
Does this make sense?

Yes to a cetain extent and inner wear will be more on a lowered car. Worn trailing arm bushes can also add to this.

Just how uneven was the wear? What was left on the outside edge?

Sounds like normal wear pattern to me.
Converting to miles gives 22,000, which is very good, for a sports car rear tyres.

Mine is at 38,000 kilometers now and needing new rears (canvas not showing but totally flat inner edges).

Sounds about right, don't worry about it :)

if the canvas was showing they are a few thousand past the point when they should have been replaced!!

Had a similar experience a few weeks ago.

No solution as yet, just monitoring all the tyres for abnormal wear.

Thanks guys that gives me a bit of “peace of mind” I have had the car since 5000k Jap import, as far as I know it has not been lowered, the rest of the tyre wear was pretty even, just the inside edges had what I thought was accelerated wear. can any one give me the standing height? The Dealer fitted Toyo Proxes T1-R which to my knowledge are pretty good tyres. :)
