Roll on tomorrow!!!

Post by shieldz »

Picking up my first Z3 tomorrow morning…

http://picasaweb.google.com/mlshields/B ... directlink

Spotted it in a local garage and just couldn’t resist it… been thinking of getting one for ages. I’m 40 this year so it just had to be done!!

One owner from new, 78k on the clock and BMW service History. It’s only the 1.8 but it’s styling I love on Z3.
Anyway keeps the running costs down and should be a little pokier than my current commuting Ka.

Very well looked after! Just a small scuff on the rear bumper which the garage are sorting along with refurbishing the wheels.

Roll on tomorrow!!!

I’ll post better pictures once I’ve finished driving it around in the Bristol sunshine all weekend. 8-)

Hi,

Looks great (and the best colour too so I'm told!)

Looks like its from the same dealer I bought my 5 series from if you look at my photo closely... If it is the same dealer, he does seem to sell good cars as my 525D has been fantastic so far.

Hope you enjoy your new car!

Just a thought though, :puzzle: Titan is very quiet.... and judging by yet another silver zed I think there's a possibility he's touring the UK spraying every one silver !!! :D :drive

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

I'm sure I'll be on this forum at lot more once I've got over the initial excitement of getting my zed... if one ever does?... for advice, help, cruises and a general chat.

My wife's not really into the zed thing so I need to share my new hobby with someone. Having said that, I think my 4 year old daughter is more excited than I am, she's been counting down the sleeps for over a week now… at lease she's on my side!

Hi theshields and welcome.

Great looking Z3 - just like the one my wife treated herself to for her birthday and in the niciest colour - not that we're biased

Enjoy the Zed - hopefully summer is coming :sunny

Welcome to the forum, I'm in the same boat with the wife, she's not all that bothered about the Zed, she's happy with the Mini.

But my 3 year old son loves it, he's well into some roof down cruising!!

You'll get over the initial excitement... but you'll still get excited every time you take it out... or at least I do!

So it was the same dealer in then! Probably a bit sad I recognised the setting of the photo... I think I saw that Z when I was browsing Autotrader for mine a while ago.

Yep, called them earlier to confirm it was finally back from the body shop as this will now be the third time I've tried to collect it.

Still, couldn't be picking it up on a better day. The weather forecast is looking very good for the weekend so will take it for a topless run across the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Well done Theshields, :thumb:

Enjoy your first Zed. Was out on the A370 last Saturday and told the wife saw two silver Zeds between Congresbury and Weston, one was yours soon-to-be I believe.

Alas, I was not in our Zed.

Sounds like the local Zeds are growing, may be a Cruise might be in the offering at this rate.

I'm obviously very new to this so once I've a few miles under my belt it would be great to get a few Zeds together for Bristol/North Somerset cruise.
I often pass a "Y" Titan Zed in Failand on my way to work so if you're on this forum please get in touch if you fancy it?

Welcome theshields, were a passionate bunch on here. We love to give em (the cars) a spanking when ever time and roads allow. I am sure you will not grow tired of the drive for a very looooong time. Autumn has set in here but you lucky fellas are just getting warmed up for your summer drives. Enjoy the car and we all wish you well.

WELCOME to theshields ... and I think your wife will come around. It's art on wheels, or "fashion on wheels" so how can she NOT come to love that car too!

Welcome aboard, I would not count on the wife coming around if she catches you out spending money on the "mistress'' like mine does all to often

Get the misses out on a nice sunny day and bring along a head scarf or cap if she starts moaning about messing her hair up and take her out to lunch at some nice spot it does have the desired effect :thumb:

At least you can park yours in spacious sized parent and child spaces to stop numpties dinging your doors, my other half would not let me buy a kiddie seat to put in mine.

Welcome to the world of Zeders.
If you collected her this morning we all know what you have been doing the rest of the day. I also think that there will probably be a repeat tomorrow?

Picked my Zed up yesterday morning. Not quite the day I had in mind. My daughter was ill all day so the only drive I had was from the garage to home… but still one of the most fun 15mins driving I've had since I picked up my XR2i 20 years ago!

Managed to get a drive out in the country this afternoon… why didn't I do this years ago? I love it!! The kids do too…

http://picasaweb.google.com/mlshields/B ... directlink ...and my wife even admitted the car looks really lovely!!

Couple of issues with the car… the passenger door has stopped opening from the outside, I'm sure I've seen something about this being a common problem? Also I noticed the rear bumper has been knocked and isn't sitting properly on its locating pins(?)

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask such questions but any advice on fixing the door and how easy it is to remove the bumper and re-seat it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, had my Zed a week now and absolutely love it!!

Took it to a local garage chain and got a free 15 point safety check done which came back with £350 worth of work. Then found Scott at First Call BMW & German Car Specialist, http://www.german-specialist.co.uk who confirmed they are common issues with Z3’s and nothing to worry about and he’d take another look in six months (just before the MOT) :)

So any of you South West / Bristol guys looking for a good garage to look after you and your Zed check him out. I’ve seen him mentioned on this and other BMW forums.

Had a new front offside tyre fitted (Goodyear), wheels tracked and balanced… Wow what a difference a simple thing like that makes!!! :D

Spent the rest of the day just driving around in the sun. 8-)

Hi Shieldz. You'll just keep on loving that car!!! I have spent a bit on mine to get things up to scratch...which just makes me love it even more. And mine is a 1.9, so quite economical. The day I got mine I took it straight in for new tires and a wheel balance. Since then have replaced a few things...but that's what I love about the Z3: I CAN fix stuff. The knowledge is out there!

If you got it from a garage get them to sort the issues but it sounds like it could possibly be a door actuator which can be picked up secondhand from http://www.fabdirect.com/ or I paid a tenner for one on ebay. Some good links on this site but here's the one for the bumper http://www.rfdm.com/tis/51_12_000.pdf courtesy of Emek

Many thanks for this info Althulas. Door seems to be OK now thanks to WD40 and posts on this forum. The bumper was sorted by the garage that quoted me £350 for the other work... guess that’s what you call a sweetener
