Oil Leak I think this was in my head - not really noticed anything 25.2.2014
Stereo. Sub and head unit work - prob with front speakers. Oh yes this is fixed 22.2.2014 Morel 4" speakers (co-axial) in the rear and 5.25" components in the front...but possibly needs a proper 4 ch amp to drive the speakers cleanly
Sub enclosure rattle Rattle but no Hum. I have foam, will experiment.
Brake light. 10.2.2014 - fixed, with new sockets and gasket
Hood not working. 7.2.2014 - fixed
Rear tyres 6.2.2014 - replaced Michelin PS3
All wheel refurb
Front bonnet / bumper respray Have quotes, need more.
Front light bulb change
Flat battery. 1.2.2014 - replaced
Drivers side floormat. New set, replaced 19.2.2014

Airbag light is on because of 05 Firing circuit, belt tensioner (driver). Whatever that means?

There is a 2 pin connector under your seat that connects to the seat belt tensioner (the part your seat belt clips in to) moving the seat backwards/forwards can disturb this connector and throw an airbag fault, clear the code and see if comes back. Big thanks to zederbee for hooking up the car yesterday with the INPA software. A couple of old errors were thrown up but nothing too major. One error which we couldn't fathom was a charge of greater than 16.5 V going to the ABS. Odd but we didn;t have a multimeter to conduct more tests.

PFL969 is now officially back on the road
Project PFL 969 - Passenger Seat
Just wanted to say a big 'thanks' to Joycey and his Dad for spending countless hours last Saturday helping with sorting out he cars issues.
One of the problems with the car is the passenger side electric seat. They took the seat out and cleaned the underside. The two motors were tested using a 12v car battery. The relays etc were all fine. The problem has been isolated to the actual switch for operating the forward / aft and up / down movements. I can;t seem to get 'just' the replacement switch and BMW only replace the whole of the underside of the seat (includes wiring loom and the metal bit) - that costs +£630 +VAT.
Has anyone else had this problem, if so what was your fix? Southernboy suggested an ebay search for E36 or Z3 electric switch. Unfortunately nothing suitable is listed?
Another seat issue was the lateral movement from the seat under acceleration / deceleration - the Joyce's identified that this is a seat bush problem and I have ordered one from Aceman.

Hi Southern Boy,
OK the part numbers you've listed are for Z3's with standard seats (July '97-onwards) ending 893 is for the passenger side, ending 894 is the drivers side.
For people with M seats, passenger side ends 895 and driver's side is 896

..... so, are you saying that now you have the part number for the switch only, you can't buy it as a separate part??

I needed heated seat buttons and sea surfer contacted me to say she had one. It turned out to be a seat button rather than a heated seat button (ignore Barry's smut)

Could be tired shocks are a contributory factor. If they are not dampening the oscillation of the springs sufficiently, the tyres will be continually losing contact with the road surface resulting in loss of traction and greater braking distances. It can also cause uneven or excessive tyre wear (tyres continually bouncing and scuffing). Alternatively, as I haven't driven an M it may just be a characteristic of the car and pushing 300 BHP + through the rear wheels.PFL969 wrote:Poss springs or shocks?

It didnt feel confident and responsive going in and coming out of that roundabout.
Might be worth ordering some shocks to go with those springs and we can change them on a weekend

Just waiting for call back from a PPCGB I think they're called - looking for the original (?) Sachs shocks.
Just put some Renovo cleaner on the roof, left it an hour and done the first bit of scrubbing - oh boy was it grim...Might need another couple of applications and scrubs.

Revovo cleaner is very good, I gave the hood three applications and the muck comes off with a bit of scrubbing with hot water.
Cleaning the hood revealed some serious fading as shown in these photos.
I applied one coat of the soft top reviver and will take / post a pic later today when it dries out. I bought the 500 ml kit from ebay (cleaner, reviver, proofer) for £36 ish
