Limewire not working

Post by Gazza »

Help !!

My Limewire stopped working, click the icon and nothing happens. I tried downloading a newer version and still nothing. Maybe my ISP Tiscali is blocking ???. Works fine at home on Orange.

Any suggestions for other sites if I cant get Limewire to start. I use it for music downloads.

Lime wire is Bad, Gary. Bad, bad, bad. It is not good for your PC, mate.

Try Torrents or Blogs as stated.

Newsgroups are the best source, no speed limits etc, I use an app called Grabit and astraweb news groups, get speeds of 500k/sec over a 2meg Virgin line

Torrents are also bad in that they can destroy your hard disk, as programs like Utorrent etc perform multiple read/writes due to the upload/download function they have. This much reduces hard drive life due to the physical strain put on the drives

true to an extent, but you can put your settings to prevent/minimize this.

Also I don't d/l rar files though, or anything that needs unzipping for that matter. you never know what your gonna find.

It can be minimized a bit but not to a great enough extent to prevent premature disk failures. With the downloads of zips you can usually read other users comments, files not matching descriptions are very quickly listed and usually removed. Still haven't encountered an inaccurately named file yet and I've been using for over a year now.

It must be very optimistic about it's transfer speed then - the theoretical maximum for a 2 meg(abit) line is 256 kilobytes/sec - unless it uses on-the-wire compression. :?

I get about 300K/s out of my line which runs about about 5 meg.

Yeah but you need the other guy to upload at 500k/s.

And for the record limewire is indeed infested with bad software.
