New soft top

Post by GaryK »

I need to replace the soft top on my Z1, does anyone have any recommendations? I have yet to check the price from BMW but I am not expecting it to be cheap!

Z1 Soft top

Post by Pat Slade »

Hey Jet
Perhaps I am a bit of a bozo with the Internet but I looked at the site you recommended and couldn't find a Z1 soft top listed!

Maybe try dropping them an email?

Hi Pat,

No, your right, its not listed, but they do manufacture them as thats where I got mine, cheapest I could find on the net, and a quality item.
Made to order only, for obvious reasons, and they even give you a colour choice.

Hallo Nik Rite, long time to hear, hows the Zed doing?

There are a number of softtop fitters out there you can use, Its just the price differences.

I can only recommend the people who fitted mine, but they are a long way from where you are in London.

If I were to do things differently, I would advise you get a fitting cost before you purchase a skin, as that may end up being the same as "supply and fit" in the UK, which is about £700+.

Bear in mind, that you will most likely have to replace all the seals and gaskets, front, back, left and right in addition to the Skin, at a cost of around £250.

Thanks Jet, Yep Im well and as busy as ever. The cars asleep at the moment. Might get it out by march 18th for a run up this way. I have it on a trickle charger . I actually have a new soft top to put on just in case some decides to slash or damage my present one. I never thought id need a seal fitting kit, I suppose you get these from the BM dealer? Cheers Nik
