Hubba hubba!
RLE with hardtop.....god, if only it wasn't techno-purple! In fact, it's a good thing it is, otherwise I'd be straight over on the next plane to buy it!

Out of curiosity, how many BHPs and torques does the RLE make over the Z1?

I'd pay 30k for an RLE in that apparent condition. Just not one that colour. I appreciate that others may like the colour, just as some also like Fun Gelb. Personally I couldn't have a Z1 in either shade but that's just me. And repainting a car like that wouldn't be right.

It has aprox 200 bhp, but having driven an RLE I must admit the power does not seem like a significant improvement over the standard Z1.estocks wrote:Out of curiosity, how many BHPs and torques does the RLE make over the Z1?
Just makes it more flexible to drive.
£30K is a lot of money, but it is a rare colour, rare car and clean, therefore someone will want it.
They are a lot cheaper in Japan though.

Last one I saw going in Japan was £44,000.senna wrote:It has aprox 200 bhp, but having driven an RLE I must admit the power does not seem like a significant improvement over the standard Z1.estocks wrote:Out of curiosity, how many BHPs and torques does the RLE make over the Z1?

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?

Alpina ZI
Hey Stu
Don't get too excited. The Alpina Z1 for sale in Germany is not an RLE. It is probably one of the extra ones that Alpina screwed together with the parts they had left over when they had finished making the numbered RLE models. I would not expect it to be as valuable as a real RLE.
Anyone else got a view?

My understanding is that the only thing that differentiates one from the other, is the plaque, key fob and other aesthetic trimmings. If those leftover parts have produced the same engine/suspension configuration as the RLE, then its an original surely?

Sad, but true.Paul Drawmer wrote:What matters is the VIN - is a BMW or an Alpina?
Alpina Cars do not keep the original BMW VIN. That's what makes the difference.
A copy of a van Gogh, no matter how good, is still a copy. These cars are now more for collecting than driving. If driving them was the important thing, the Alpina copies would be just as valuable.

Despite the naming convention the BMW `Alpina` and RLE are both commanding premium rates and rightly so I think, as it is the same company producing the same configuration, with or without plaque.Paul Drawmer wrote:What matters is the VIN - is a BMW or an Alpina?

Does the RLE have "ALPINA" wirtten on the rear end bumper too?
