Nice one Jet - as said just now on the phone, I'll be there for sure.....but it's looking increasingly certain that I won't be in the Z1!

I'll be practicing my camera skills a lot in the lead up to the event. I suddenly feel a bit weight of responsibility resting on my shoulders and I really don't want to let you guys down with some pathetic shots....

Looking forward to it already. 8-)

Part 2

Post by benslick »

Thursday 21st

I am expecting some Dutch & German friends from the continent to arrive on Thursday evening in Brighton. They will stay in cool hotel in central Brighton for the night. I expect we will have dinner & drinks.

Friday 22nd

We will meet up Friday morning and go on a little tour around Brighton & Hove and then up to divil's dyke. We will then drive on the fantastic A272 to Sheet in Hampshire to the Queens Head Pub for a spot of lunch. From there we will head to Windsor past the castle for the nice scenic run into London. We will drive through picadilly circus, around Trafalgar Square and up the mall on route to our London Hotel on the banks of the river Thames overlooking the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. In the evening we will head into the trendy Soho for a few drinks.

The following day we will head north out of London to meet up with the English Z1 drivers and the following days events!

All the best,

Ben..

You typing from a Danish keyboard?

I will escort the Dutch Invaders to Brighton for drinks Thursday and drive back in the evening, meet you back in London Friday night for a cruise around London.

London at night if the weather is right, is a great place to go, we can visit the Eye, the Queen, Scotland Yard, the Abbey, then pay Gordy a visit and thrash out a deal to get all Z1 owners free passage and parking, to and from the UK.

Added to List, please send me your email address.

Be interesting to see your Mosselmann Turbo upgrade and how it all fits together and the difference in performance.

The schedule above has been updated as the days events are confirmed, just the Hotel to go and some minor detail, then everything is set.
The hotels in the area range from Plush to comfortable with ample parking for all cars away from the public roads.

Just received confirmation that we have been given the nod to Tour the Force India Formula 1 Factory in Silverstone, thank you Andy for organising that, looking forward to it.

I'd probably recommend stopping either at a slightly more wallet-friendly big hotel with lots of secure off-street parking, or stopping off in a town like Chipping Whatever with a wide range of hotels all within staggering distance.

I'd probably go for the Lygon Arms, if we could all fit in there and the parking was secure.

Hi SPokes,

When you say stop at a more wallet friendly place, what part of the agenda you referring to, the Bugatti Pub?

I was thinking the Lygon Arms as it looks good in pictures.

Hi Jet,

are you so kind to put Franz Schaffer to the list as interested. In the first week of February he will know for sure. I believe you have his email and phone number.
As he is not a member of the forum more or less because of his English knowledge, I was asked to tell you this. :)

Please also send Horke a PM or a email. He may change his mind and come to England instead of going to the Mille Miglia. 8-)

Consider it done.

It would be a pleasure kind sir to have Franz and Horke attend the Tour. I will send him a PM, but as you know him better than I do, perhaps you will have more influence than I will.

Jet.

You are a star for doing all the work on this. I vote for the Lygon Arms. I found some very quaint hotels, but as we discussed they were all too small for what looks like being such a successful gathering.

Will come back with more when I have a computer to hand as there is only so much you can type from an iPod!
Best regards,

Sam,

The Lygon Arms does represent what we are looking for, I like the look of it, old wood, built in the 18th century etc.

I have updated the hotel information with links, will you all take a look and let me know your thoughts.

Thx

You have provided links to two different Lygon Arms hotels in two different towns.

Which one do you what to use to stay over?

I dont have a preference, they are both located in the Cotswolds, so it gives us all a choice between comfortable and quaint or 4 poster bed lavish style opulence.

They may not have a room for all depending on how mnay are staying over, so we can spread about and get together in the evening for dinner at one location.

I don't mind in which hotel we are staying but it would be nice if we all staid in one hotel. :D So everybody can drink and than crawl back to their room! :cheers

So pick the one that is big enough to have us all.

Parking is high on the priority list, all of the hotels listed above have their own private parking facilities.
It is not a locked garage, but it is away from the main roads and they rarely have any problems with cars in the area.

No problem at all, I have given our Scout explicit instructions on our requirements, he is going on a Reconnaissance mission and will report back shortly, I have complete faith in him, (well almost).

Hmm, Goodwood is 30miles from Brighton, it could form part of Fridays session enroute to London, we would have to consult fridays tour guide, Mr Benslick and see what he has planned and if we can squeeze it into the schedule, but it sounds like an idea.

Benski, what say you?

Goodwood is 35 mins drive from Brighton and a possible destination for the Friday if people want to check it out & RR...

Jet,

The book is nearly finished but I may have to wait until May! Forgive the pun. I need a wide body Z1 in the book and should wait until I can add the pics of the anglo Dutch & German invasion of Britain....

Harold,

Give me a bell, my daughter has been ill and my wife stressed but life is getting back to normal now were back in blighty.... My Z1 is being taken away next week for repairs and new modifications! :D

Ben,

Good choice, it would be worth waiting till then to include the May event rather than create yet another book.
Sorry to hear about your daughter, hope its nothing serious, its soul destroying watching them suffer.

Come join the party. If you come we go to Goodwood! Deal?
Mille Miglia is currently undergoing some Changes ... it's not the old-style one any more. And ... on the 17th there's a GT3-Race near Venice where I hoped to get a climpse of the new Alpina B6 GT3 ;-)

And it's more than Mille Miglia - as my girlfried celebrates her birthday on Thursday ... so the earliest I can drive to the island would be Friday early in the morning.

I've send an e-mail to my Contact at Rolls Royce how feasible such a stop-over at Goodwood be and let you know.

Decided that we're driving to the Mille Miglia the week before your trip, will definitely have a party here at the 21st, got more information about Rolly Royce, send and e-mail if we/you can do the factory visit (problem ... new baby-rolls is coming ...), got an extension to my project ..., so I definitely cannot decide before April if I can come with you or not. Too busy ... sorry.
