Flash Mob

Post by Jet »

Been chewing over the possibility of a little Z meet for one final blast, before the cold weather kicks in.

Nothing elaborate, just a simple Z1 Flash Mob meet on Sunday 20th September weather permitting, for a blast between Woodford/Chingford and Finchinfield Essex, taking in the Mad Mile, High Beach, Ongar, Havering, miles of unpopulated country lanes, stopping at the picturesque Finchinfield, have an early lunch, before heading home.

Had a quick word with RTT, Ben, Terry, Tricky, Andy, who have all expressed an interest and will confirm this week. Its also the Festival of Speed weekend, so some of you are probably busy, but if your free that day and can get away for a few hours, how about it......?

Jet,

Do a poll to see when the most people can make it. I can't do the weekend of the 26th/27th of September because we have guests! The Mother in Law!! AHHHH :head: Only kidding... :D

Whenever you do the Run you must do the following road

"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car, oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you"

Did you ever ride bikes Gary? I remember that route, most bikers turn back once they get to Finchinfield, but if you cross the bridge and up the hill, you enter Heaven on Earth, a big playground of twisties, S-bends and bumpy straights.
Of all the years I spent tearing about on Ducatis, the High Beach to Finchinfield run has to rank as one of the best, the bleach eyed Sunday morning starts, breakfast in Havering, then the dash back before the Caterhams, Lotus`s and Porsche`s wake up.

I havent been there for a few years, never ran it in a car, so will be interesting to see if I still remember the route without getting lost, although getting lost was part of the fun.

Sunday 20th.

Sam
Andy
Terry
Ben
Jet
RTT
Apollo?? (Ben mentioned it)

Neutral meeting point to be agreed, early morning kickoff (weather permitting), thats as much planning as we need.

That road was part of the 'Longest Day' Zroadster Cruise around Essex last year.

On that run we did Steeple to Finchingfield, I prefer the reverse direction :D :D

I might have to try 'Heaven on Earth' now   is that the road to Great Dunmow from Finchingfield ?, if so that was on our Run also.

Never been a Biker (I'd kill myself), I've seen lots of bikes around that area.

I used to live in Great Bardfield (just down the road from Finchingfield) and had the pleasure of driving the roads round there regularly. They really live up to their reputation!

Jet - I'm probably 50/50 at the mo'. An impending change in job and country means I have rather a few loose ends to tie up!!

I'll let you know one way or the other next week.

So it is highly unlikely we will see your Zed on UK soil for some time or a more opportune moment to get together, as you will be in London anyway, even more reason to make an appearance I reckon. At least come by for a coffee before heading home.

Im sure Alison will agree with me :)

Jet - you are a persuasive man!

Reckon I should be able to stick my head in on the way back as long as the lure of my mother's Sunday lunch doesn't lead me to an afternoon coma.

Apollo - well done mate!

Jet - do we have final details yet for the blast?

I haven't driven (or cleaned!) mine since getting back from the Dordogne a few weeks ago. 540 miles in one day all with the top down and all finnshed by 3PM, I was quite happy to park up, walk away from it and do something else!
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

I know that feeling well!

Mine won't be clean either - going down to Goodwood tomorrow in it so will probably get muddy from parking in a field.

Well done mate, only a few weeks and you can start working on number five! :D

I really want to come to this Z1 meet but i'm meant to work! I wonder if I can pretend to my wife that I'm sick and come for a few hours anyway while she slaves away!! HMMM! Nice thought... I'm such a bad husband. I must improve one day! 8-)

My wife really thinks I love the Z1 more than her! I told her, lets hope I never have to choose I think that was the wrong thing to say though :D lol...
