battery booster feedback

Post by Lord Taki »

Hello,

do you use a battery booster?

Any feedback would be appreciated because I can't leave my car more than 2 weeks without driving :(

Search for Ctek to find a lot of threads on this subject.

I use an Accumate conditioner, similat product to the CTEK but with the option of switching to 6 volts for the twin MG batteries. You can get a wide range of accessories; see http://www.accumate.co.uk/

The fused connector is permanently wired to the battery, and the unit simply plugs into a socket behind the seat when required.

I too use the Accumate but with the cigarette lighter attachment, was about £60 including delivery. I also have a CTEK but prefer the simplicity of the Accumate.

Edit, seems that it's even cheaper at the moment, £48ish inc cigarette lighter attachment

Think I bought mine from Ctek themselves

http://www.ctekchargers.co.uk/

I paid extra for the cigarette lighter adapter but worth it I felt. I'm pretty sure BMW sell these now but with BMW branding on it  Probably at thrice the price.

Hmm do I need one of these? I don't do anything to the batteries in my cars usually.

Only ever had 1 battery fail me and that was the original battery in an 8 year old Escort GTi.

If these actually make a difference to the life of a battery i'll order one though :)

If you use the car on a regular basis, then you probably won’t need to invest in one of these! As battery life probably degrades if battery is constantly discharged/recharged.

I do not use my car during winter so sits covered on the drive, hence why I need one.

I use the accumate as well, connect and forget.

I have the lead permanently attached to the battery, and the lead runs through a little gap under the hood when the Z1 is in the garage

I've used a cheapo from Halfords, (their own brand) for about 4 years on my winter laid up Morgan,
It made a huge difference to starting. Temperature in my garage has been down to -10 in winter though I never started the car when temp so low.
Just remember to unplug it before driving off......
