The Netherlands Tour

Post by Jet »

Thanks Harry and Pierre for organising the Netherlands Tour, was an adventurous journey for me and my Zee, you looked after us well, please pass on my regards to everyone, nice bunch of guys.

Much appreciated, see you all at the next one, most likely london as your friends all want to come over next year. There was no time for group shots, this tour was all about driving hard!! A few pics I took along the way....

I didnt think you could get wheels this wide on a z1, immaculately clean.

Quality is not great, as it was very dark at the time, would have been a fantastic shot with more natural light.

Pierre, thanks for letting me have a drive of your Hamann, I only held my foot to the floor for a few seconds, but JeeeeeeeZuuuuusssssss!!!

It felt very solid, brakes worked very well and it makes a lovely "whoooosh" sound when the Turbo kicks in. Which do you prefer, the Hamann or the AC? Hard to choose I imagine, its like asking which of your children you like best :D

But go on, if you had to choose, which would it be?

Wish you were all there mate, it would have been good to get some pictures of all the cars togther under the glow of the Arc and Lourve, as the light bounces off the shiny wheels and polished bodywork.

These are with you in mind Mr BlueBaur, remember the Yellow car with horrible lemon interior from last years Cotswold tour driven by Shef from Netherlands?

Total transformation from pitbull to crufts poodle.... impressive.

Thanks Jet, Terry and Ben for the stunning pictures of your recent tour.
With regard to the pics for my benefit, is this the same car ie, Fun Gelb exterior and Fun Gelb interior? If so, did it appear on the tour as I have not spotted it in any of the group pictures.
Do you have any contact details for the owner as I would dearly like to know where he located the interior. If only !!!!

BB, how you doing fella, long time no speak, i thought you might appreciate these shots.
Thats the car alright, although the interior could not be described as Fun Gelb at the time. They were not at this tour, so we made a pit-stop in Eindhoven, enroute to Germany.
He bought new seats and had the remaining trim refurbished by an enthusiast, appreantly he spent 2 weeks filling in all the holes and every scratch, incredible transformation. Apparently only one of 5 cars with Fun Gelb inside, outside and with a Green dash, the other 122 had Gray dashboards.

I will PM you his contact details.

Thanks for the picture. Has the car exterior been refurbished as well as the interior? Now that I have seen the driver I can remember a conversation about the interior whilst we were at the Ettington last year, but did not take personal details. That is surely a very rare car combination that he has achieved in preserving.

A prisoners dilemma indeed.
Schnitzer and Hamann both did it their own way and made the car better then the original without destroying the good qualities it standard has

The proof that also a tuned car survives 20 years easily when the job is done right.

I hope I never have to choose

Likewise Thanks for all the piccies and videos. You certainly had a good run. How many kilometers did you cover on the drive? were there any other problems (other than a blown head)?. Sorry to hear about that.
