Re sold Z1

Post by Ian M »

I don't wish to put a dampner on things but looking at the photos on
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1973435.htm

don't you think the seats look a little worn for 11500KM (7500 miles) ?

I think the new owner still got a bargain though.

End of the Story

Post by Traumschwarz »

Hey, Folks

and so this nice vehicle has found a new owner and eventually returned to Germany after all these years ;)
For the curious cats amongst you: The car needs a pair of new tires, a new stereo (one that doesn't invite knives), some minor fixing and repair but nothing serious.
Considering that it is a 20 year old car nothing to complain about.

Was a nice trip from London to Frankfurt...thanks Nosh
greets

Air condition

Post by Traumschwarz »

I pressed the button and the light went on

It hardly cooled down....more like a light breeze. I presume it needs a check-up. Haven't had time to complete

My Car has air con it uses the e30 heater box with a drier fitted in front of the radiator. its a dash out job to retrofit and new air con units run on R132 which does not mix well with the now outlawed R12. The fittings on the compessor are different for R132 so need checking too!

The compressor is tight fit against the steering rack as well.

Yes, it sure has!
I found out it was built in 1989 and sold in 1991 in Stuttgart, left for Japan in 1995 and had 2 or three owners there before it came to London.

It's been a year now and I thought I'd give you an update on the car. It was sold thru Ebay as you all might remember saying : Excellent condition. It took me a couple of months to find out how much of the "excellent" was left.

Luckily the last owner gave me all the paperwork, most of it japanese. I asked a classmate to translate the invoices and receipts, expecially the ones with the accident this car must have had. :-(
I then went to a friend mechanic to find out more. And I did. A bent tie rod on the right hand side and the handbrake was manually adjusted thru the two screws next to the drivers seat.

The speedo got replaced after around 35.000 km as well and some madza shocks where fitted with 4 Inch bolt spacers each to lower the car beyond belief :dunce: . The engine bottom cover had to go. With Chrissy's help I managed to freshen up the seats. Not much worn out there

The cheap paint job now takes its toll. Serious paint cracks show ugly marks. But most of all the paintshop hardly took their time to remount the skin parts properly which as you might figure ended in broken clamps and lose door panels leaving vertical marks and the headlights were held by only one screw each, instead of three.

Please whatever you do, don't let this happend to any CAR!!!

:P

I consider EXCELLENT CONDITION being somewhat different!
