Z1 Forum Postings - Is it just me or have hings got personal

Post by sfh3l » Thu 10 Feb, 2011 18:59

I'm not the Moderator of this forum, nor am I the most regular of its contributors. I may have no right to say what I write here, and it is in no way intended to offend anyone. However, I do find it very difficult to see others being treated in a way that I feel is unfair without at least saying my piece, so here goes:

Can I politely suggest that we on the forum should concentrate a little more on what makes this such a great place to spend the odd few minutes and on our shared passion, the marvelous Z1, rather than open disputes and petty point-scoring?

There seem to have been a few posts lately that in my opinion amount to a public spat that should be better pursued via private message, email or telephone conversation. I mention no names, as this would not be in keeping with what I believe to be the ethos of this group. I have been off air for a few weeks and notice particularly the tone of some of the interractions when I read the succession of posts that have been made. I have no doubt that it seems different when writing each individual comment, but when stacked up as they appear now, it all looks very confrontational and unnecessary.

It is important I feel to ask the question before we post - is this appropriate and is it necessary for all members to see? If the answer to either parts of that question is 'No' then things should simply be left, or the issue dealt with by another means - and in private.

If this ruffles feathers, then I am sorry and if Moderators want to remove it then I quite understand. I think of you all as my mates and if my mates were arguing, I'd want to sort things out rather than sit by and watch a slanging match develop. So some on guys - lighten up and enjoy what we all have in common :D

Enough said for now methinks.
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

Without trawling through, you have drawn my attention to this issue or none issue and as Moderator, I will be keeping an eye on things.

I'm not aware of anything being raised at this time.

Thanks.

Got to admit, I hardly ever go on the Z1 Forum, I always feel on ZRoadster they seem rather aloof when contributing generally. Thats not a criticism just an observation  Think I only noticed one thread recently where there appeared to be some fraught exchanges which were deleted after a short while.

Generally across the board, there is never really much in terms of problems :)

It is the Z1 Forum, a small group of enthusiasts with fantastic cars (I would love to own one, more so than a Z8)
I get the impression that they all know each other very well indeed.
"Aloof when contributing" let's just chase them away to their other Z1 forums then.

A bit OTT, TT, IMHO.

Im suprised that this has been escalated again as I felt it had been put to bed! Its very straight forward, Unfortunately I had an issue and a fall out with a forum member for good reason, which turned into a storm in a tea cup and things got silly. However, we both let each other know what we thought and it came out in public which is always a shame. I felt justified and responded to his vollies, and he mine. He then rightfully deleted his own postings! So out of respect I then in turn deleted mine.
We have had no contact with each other since and I felt no moderation was needed as we had moved on.. I'm sad this was highlighted again! I can only say, only a fool does not learn from their lessons and
I will be the first to say I will take care in the future.

I would like to take this oppertunity to openly apologise to everyone I may have offended and will always endevour to do what I feel is right and just even if I'm upset.

Regards to one and all..

Spot on!

As for being aloof, it's just because for my part I'm so blindly in love with my little old Z1 that I'm so focused on our own litle world I forget there's a bigger world out there!

Biggering's part of life. Only a small proportion involve biggering.
At times they can be laughable.
If one doesn't like the biggering threads or find them amusing then one can choose to ignore them/not read them.
Just all IMHO of course.

So happy that your typo was not the word 'bugger'

intr.v. bick·ered, bick·er·ing, bick·ers
1. To engage in a petty, bad-tempered quarrel; squabble. See Synonyms at argue.
2. To flicker; quiver: "and bicker like a flame" (Robert Browning).
n.
A petty quarrel; a squabble.

Biggering

Quotes from “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss

I, the Once-ler, felt sad
as I watched them all go.
BUT…
business is business!
And business must grow
regardless of crummies in tummies, you know.

I meant no harm. I most truly did not.
But I had to grow bigger. So bigger I got.
I biggered my factory. I biggered my roads.
I biggered my wagons. I biggered the loads
of the Thneeds I shipped out. I was shipping them forth
to the South! To the East! To the West! To the North!
I went right on biggering… selling more Thneeds.
And I biggered by money, which everyone needs.

+++

And then I go mad.
I got terribly mad.
I yelled at the Lorax, “Now listen here, Dad!
All you do is yap-yap and say, ‘Bad! Bad! Bad! Bad!’
Well, I have my rights, sir, and I’m telling you
I intend to go on doing just what i do!
And, for your information, you Lorax, I’m figgering
on biggering

and BIGGERING

and BIGGERING

and BIGGERING,

turning MORE Truffula Trees into Thneeds
which everyone, EVERYONE, EVERYONE needs!” [/

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Brilliant, let's go the way of the Z1 forum.

Hi HH, I don't think you understood the post from SA ! he was fighting your corner. FFS. :head:
But we will forgive you as you are a Neanderthal, sorry typo, Nederlander.

No you didn't piss me off! But it was a nice try!!! I think that it should be possible to make jokes, take a friendly swing at each other without people be pissed right away. A joke once a while is good even when it's on the edge.

About that hair of mine there is not much left over the years to cut! :bawl: So it's not personal.

As for some one fighting my corner, I don't think he is. My opinion is that we don't start nagging around when somebody makes a bad remark.

I hope this is not kindergarten were we go to mods to complain that somebody did our said something. If you don't like certain things than just ignore them.

Dear Soft Top, I understand that you have no problem with other makes of sport cars. But we aren't talking about Z3 an TT than? :D :D :D

By the way I have a Z3 3.0i sport edition myself.

With best regards from Neanderthalland,

Holland Harry

PS. wasn't the Neanderthal joke on e the edge!

It's a pet name for Pork (not of the sword variety). Mine's a turbo! Oh, I also have a GSXR750 a GSXR1000 and 2 racing karts. So much for the Z3 "hairdresser" stereotypes eh

That is why I enjoy the Dutch Z forum so much.
Nobody seems to get pissed off on there, and some of the stuff is really close to the edge.
