The return of the tortoise

Post by Racing Tortoise »

Yes, indeed, finally today...after 11 months and in time for the meet...I managed to muster up the courage to take an electric drill to the bonnet and get the mascot back in its rightful place.

I blame most of the delay in not being able to locate the charger for my cordless drill for ages...but actually it takes a bit of nerve to attack a Z1 bonnet with a power tool!

Spent ages measuring up with tape measures, masking tape and marker pens, but finally it's on and it looks straight. Now just need to wait for the silica sealant around the bolts to dry and I can go wash off the yellow GRP dust...

Phew.

Mascots are like marmite. You either like them or you don't. In my family, most of us have them and my sister gave me this one. Anyway, it's nothing new. I had it on the last Z1, which got written off last year, so it was just the last piece in the jigsaw of its replacement.

And, since I don't ever intend to sell it, the issue of holes in the bonnet is neither here nor there!

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

I'd drill holes in a Z3 too, if that's any consolation.
