Looked at the agent website you listed and I see there are several options. Are we booking just B&B at this stage, or the full job with Dinner?

Forgive me - it has been a long time since my last confession. I have been very busy and had a number of other 'issues' to deal with, but still alive and kicking.

31st August to 1st September sounds great to me and the Cotswolds is/are a great place to tinker around, so count me in for 2 please.

Jet - sorry to be dim, but I too would like to ask Pat's question - do we book just the room & breakfast or tell them something more than that?

Needless to say I would also be up for the Lotus visit if there are any spaces at all left :)

Good work 007.
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

Ivor & Bindy, Roger & Lynda, Erica and me have booked B&B at this stage as we didn't know what the dinner plans are. If you book for two nights you can get 20% off and free breakfast. Should work out at £163.20 for a superior room for both nights.

Dear All,

We have now reserved the Saturday night at Ettington Chase, so roll on August!

I wondered whether there was any more news on the Lotus F1 tour? Also whether anyone had thought about how we address the limited numbers of spaces? I mentioned this to Catherine and she said (not exact words, of course) that she would "happily give up her place to anyone who was interested in cars". So there's one of the 15 spaces that remains available. I suspect she is reckoning on taking her Kindle and catching some rays - always supposing there are some to catch......

Looking forward to it already and it will be good to catch up with you all as I shall be mostly occupied with the 911 at Silverstone and still haven't worked out whether I am going to be home or not by the Sunday of Gaydon, but may well be obliged to get the old blue car out for that run.
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

To All,

No dining arranged yet, just accomodation at this stage, we can agree on grub later, dependent on whether you all want to dine like royalty with private room or sit with your subjects in the main restaurant and eat Mickey Dees.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up, thanks Sam.

We are restricted to 15 visitors, so hopefully passengers wont mind giving up their spot to other driver. But what if there are over 15 drivers? We may need to give the passes to the first 15 to book a room? Either that or draw straws.

DIning - there is a 20 person max dining room available at no extra cost, they can also section off a space in the restaurant so we all sit together if it goes over the 20man mark, which is more likely.

Afternoon all,

Looking forwards to catching up with you at the end of August.

I'm afraid I won't make it to the hotel but I'll see you here in Enstone for the LF1 tour.

Jet - we shall need to hook up sometime in mid-July to sort out the details.

Cheers,

I'm guessing that "Do it, it's fantastic" isn't what you had in mind as "more news". :D

I'll say it anyway. Huge thanks to Andy for sorting it for me. You are all going to have a -great- time. Enjoy.

I can't make these dates, but overnights are difficult for me in any case. I hope I'll be able to meet up with some more of you soon, maybe at the Technical Day. Have a good trip, I'll be thinking of you.

Hi, just bought a Z1 and would like to join you on the Saturday if there is space. Can't stay for the evening as I'm nominally looking after the kids that day as my wife is away. I should be able to leave them for a few hours though...!

@Motorhead: Welcome, Richard, to the joys of the Z1. Did you perchance buy the Lancashire ex-Eddie Irvine car?
@Jet: What time are we expected at Lotus F1? Since I live quite close by, there's not much point in driving further away to meet up.

ChrisS - no, not Irvines car. A local car to me, see link below. Its a bit of a mess but should scrub up well. Basics of the car are good: UK car, 49,000 miles, all original, full BMW service history, 4 previous owners (last since 1997). But needs new hood (or repair), leather refurb, paint (or wrap!) and one wing is cracked (but sounds like they all do that).

Jet - I confirm for Saturday and would love to do the Lotus tour if there is room, but recognise I'm Johnny come lately so will hang back and only tag along if space.

The car looks good. I look forward to seeing it.
Mine is from 1991 so the wings haven't started to crack yet
I've had it for 4 years and it's proved extremely reliable, except for the alarm/immobiliser which I've had replaced recently.
I'm taking it to France at the end of the week, and my daughter wants to use it as her wedding car in September. How you get over the sill in a long dress will be interesting to see!

Chris is not bothered about the Lotus tour so that's one less to consider.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it this year. What with the wife's 40th, eldest daughter's 18th, wedding anniversary and a trip to Motor GP at Silverstone all happening in the same week I don't think the budget will stretch that far! I'll definitely be there next year (dates permitting) as the last Tour was excellent!

Hi Felix,

Met with Ivor, Darren and Roger at Gaydon to discuss the route and propose a slight deviation and shorter version to accomodate everything. Do you still have the original tomtom route that started at Birchanger, can't find it anywhere.

1000
The Fox Inn pub 1200
LF1 1300
Resume tour 1500
Hotel 1700
Dining 1930-2000

We have been allocated private dining and will be seated together, rather than a set menu we can choose on the day.

Afternoon all,

For those attending the tour around the Lotus factory I shall require the following information (please PM to me if you prefer not to put it on the thread):

Full Name

ZRoadster Profile Name

Occupation

The reason for asking for occupation is that I am not allowed to bring anyone round the factory who has a professional affiliation with any form of motorsport or other competitive industry. If you think this might apply to you, please PM me about it. I can't imagine it will cause a problem for anyone based on prior experience.

Please also note that photography is not permitted within the factory and as such I would ask that people leave cameras in their car just so that there are no accidents or misunderstandings with our security guys.

Looking forwards to seeing you all on the 31st.

Cheers,

Andy

Z1 Tour 2013 IMPORTANT UPDATE

Post by Bluebaur »

Having spent many hours with Ivor browsing the 2009 Spokey designed tour route and trying to replicate most of the drive. We must now alter the initial meeting point from Baldock Services A1(M) to Newport Pagnall Services SOUTHBOUND (M1) situated between Junction15 an+d junction14. This move is created by the morning tour terminating at Lotus F1 near Enstone rather than Force India at Silverstone which is 30/40 minutes further west.
The timings will remain the same with the departure time from Newport Pagnall Services SOUTHBOUND at 10:00 hours. Hopefully this will not materially affect anybody too much and I wish to apologise for the late change. Anybody wishing to raise any questions over the next few days, please drop Ivor (a1z1) a pm and I am sure he will be able to help.

Regarding names for the Lotus tour, thanks to those who have sent their details.

I guess I'm still missing a fair few. I need names before close of play on Wednesday and I'm afraid it will be a case of 'If your name isn't down, you're not coming in'

Cheers,

Andy
