260 bhp is not full M spec as claimed is it? An S54 is 342bhp in a Z4 so an S52 would be north of 300bhp. Anyway it looks as if it has a single throttle body. :|

The S52 was a North American-market engine only - it is somewhat less powerful than either the S50 or S54 and produces around 240 bhp - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_S52#S52

Plenty quick enough in a Z1 though - bet it's a lot of fun to drive.

Cheers R.

The 0-62 time hardly appears to justify the extensive mod of an engine change. Expect other in gear figures would be more impressive.

Is he claiming that Wiesmann did the engine swap?

If not, does anyone know who did?

Interesting conversion, Robert is right, it is the American Spec, Weismann would have gone down this route presumably due to its size, as it has to fit into a much smaller space.

I can't say whether Weismann did the conversion, but my guess is that the choice of the US spec 'M3' is that it has the more normal plenum chamber that is associated with the single throttle body and as a result the brake servo set up is unchanged over standard. There will be others on here who can correct me if I am wrong, but I think the full fat M3 set up requires changing the servo for something a good deal smaller (big air box).

Merry Christmas to one and all!
Best regards,

Sam Lever.
