Post by bmwz1971 »

I need help,
Who can tell me how to adjust the front cover of my Z.
I have a 5 mm space above my left headlight.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

If the front bumper is correctly aligned with the engine hood,

you need to lift up the headlight. (4 screws fixing).

After you must adjust the beam.

What happened beforehand, was the bonnet removed for some reason? Accident repair?

Hey Fluo,

Its 5 screws, dont forget one underneath. Gently lift the indicator unit and a 10mm spanner, or from under car with undertray off.

When we going to have that talk? Send me a PM.

Hi Jet,

No, it's 4.

Perhaps you have 5 on your prototype (or in yours dreams)

5 studs wheels, yes, ... sometimes with big wheels!

Here is yet another proof, from marco website.

The fourth is the most difficult of access.

In french, we said "Jet does not exceed the master!"

Indeed it is 4, the one underneath being the 4th. Your diagram is a little confusing, the 4th arrow should be pointing up, not downwards.

Must be a French thing :)

I don't think the problem is with your lights. I think your bonnet is "on the pi$$".

From what I remember of looking at the front of a Z1 at Silverstone, there is a plastic bush in the hinges of item 14. If this deteriorates and the bonnet is realigned with the broken hinge in place, you will have your symptoms...

If that is the problem, I don't think they are available as a BMW spare, but others have sorted the problem, so the solution is out there.
