Bolts for folding roof

Post by GaryK »

One of the bolts from my roof frame has sheared.
Does anyone know if these are available from anywhere? I have been trying on Ebay with no luck.
My friendly local BMW would supply me with one for about £5000 but this did include the rest of the frame!!!

Thanks

I can supply for about 200 pounds + shipping/packaging (also including rest of the frame and used soft top in bad condition but still without leaks). I think it's worth to visit your local breakers yard.

Can you post some pics?

Not sure if you are, but I wouldn't search for Z1 bolts on ebay, they are not usually OEM/Model specific. Find one as close as you can get, they tend to have big flat heads for clearances. If you find the right one, get the head 'flattened' or the length shortened with a lathe.

Good Luck

I thought I had attached a photo last time and now it tells me the board attachment quota has been exceeded! All for a 180k pic!

That, I think, is called a Pivot Bolt/Screw, the engineers of this group will confirm if im wrong. Try and find something similar online, also try a few engineering firms, maybe they can make you one to the same spec and thread pattern?

PS: Use photobucket for images as described at the top of this forum.
