Buckled wheel

Post by davieb »

Just took the Z1 for its MOT and was told that there is an advisory for a 'slightly buckled wheel'. Clearly it didn't fail on it, so it should be reasonably safe. However, not knowing much about wheels I have to ask a couple of naïve questions:

1) Can it be regarded as safe?
2) Can it be repaired?
3) If no, is it still possible to buy original Z1 wheels?

many thanks

Buckles are not usually a problem, most companies can repair without an issue, If not OEM, they pop up on ebay once in a while at a reasonable cost.

Try here - not local to you, but there's always Yodel;

They've repaired wheels on my Zed (when I had it), my son's Clio (when he had it) and my brother-in-law's TT.

Hi

Many thanks for the comments. When I read the word 'buckled', I did panic a bit, but having dug further into it after your comments, I realise it might not be a big deal. For anyone else in the Devon area, I've been told that South West Wheel Repairs (http://www.southwestwheelrepairs.com/index.html) on Exeter's Marsh Barton are excellent for all wheel work and I'm heading up to see them this morning.

Walloped? A mere flesh wound..

No it was the nearside front, I took it off and you could barely see the dent; but it was mentioned as an advisory so it's now sorted. I'm having the offside rear blemish sorted next week - the one I kissed the island kerb with.
