Back to the Pyrenees 14-15th May 2016

Post by F.Brossaud »

:wave

Sorry, I have not been around for a while
Anyway, let's go straight to the point :) We plan to organise a meeting in the Pyrenees mid May 2016...

Idea would to start from Narbonne Area and drive west near to Andorra (tax free :D ).

Image
Narbonne is a little bit on the North but you can anyway localize the area.

As usual, we plan good twisty roads :drive and some interesting visits during those 2 days like Fort Liberia
Image

and Villefranche de Conflent village
Image

There is a 734 steps underground stairs connection both... and for sure some wine to taste also.

:!: Difference compared to previous Tours (Pyrenees, Quercy, Loire valley)
This time it will not be a "Z tour" but a "BMW Youngtimer Tour" for BMW before 1990. Of course, Z1 are more than welcome. If you have friends with e30,e24,e31, e34... also

Would you have any interest in that new Tour ? I know that some of you enjoyed the previous one in the Pyrenees and were interested to come back.
If you need any kind of support, I can help you to organise your trip in France and also if you plan to stay few more days in the area.

Thanks for your attention

Bonjour Fred,

Nice to hear from you. The idea of a 2-16 Tour sounds fabulous. I would like to be noted as interested please. 2016 is pretty busy for us as I have Le Mans 24 (June) and Classic Le Mans (July), as well as my 50th Birthday (June) and a family party in August, but I am sure I can fit some Z1 driving (or perhaps the 3.0csl) in May :D

Anyone else reading - Fred's tours are THE BEST. You ought to come!
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your message. I will keep you informed.
Either one or the other of your car would be perfect for that tour :king:
Last month, we had a tour in Vercors and we had a 3.0 Cs among us. In fact, the grand'ma was chasing quite well our M3s e30 :D

Bonjour Frederic

Please add me to your list. My plan would be to drive down through France over 2 / 3 days and, post tour, head west and return to England via ferry from Bilbao / Santander

I've just confirmed us on the tour. It would be great to see more UK Z1's on this trip. Fred's trips are meticulously organised and he takes us to some great places too. The Mirepoix trip was fabulous, the Dordogne trip beautiful and the Loire one majestic. Fortunately I haven't been on more than that, as I was running out of superlatives! However, in all seriousness, France is a great place to let the Z1 run free and be the wonderful little tourer that you've always wanted it to be. Roger, Ivor and Darren, why don't you give it a go? Pat, are you up for it? And Jet, the Z-meister, how about it, dude? Felix? Spokey?? Phil?

The sun will shine for at least some of the time, the roads will be clear and awesome for all of it, the food wonderful, the company sublime (apart from me, of course :D ) and we could all have a great time.

There, that's my plug over in any case, but I cannot recommend these tours highly enough and you'll kick yourselves if you miss it :bawl: .

Well, Sam won't be alone, having gone on Fred's last trip I've also booked and if this tour is as good as the last one I'll be very happy.

I can't add much to what Sam has said, as he'd already ran out of superlatives ... but to say if you're thinking of doing this tour..."DO IT"...they really are that good. :D

Great French wines, some of the best cheeses in the world, crikey even the steering wheel is on the correct side!!! :drive What's not to like?

So c'mon who else wants to stretch their Z1's legs? It would be nice to see a few more of you guys on this tour.

Sam, Keith,

Good to hear you are making the tour. We signed up several weeks ago!

We will probably make at least a week of it. Thinking of taking a couple of days on the way down just gently cruising the byways.

As Keith said it will be good to get the Z1 on the continent again.

Stephane, Frederic

Many thanks for organising yet another excellent tour, the selected roads were great fun and the scenery and selected attractions both impressive and informative.

I think 8 hours in the car on Monday was perhaps too much, when I climbed out of the car at the end of the day my calf muscles ached badly ... but probably not helped by walking down the 742 steps at Fort Liberia !

The Z1 ran perfectly, as always, with a best fuel economy of 14.4 kms /ltr (39 mpg) ... and worst ... 9.05 kpg (25.6 mpg)

Thanks again .. and I look forward to the next one !

Kind regards

Hi Tony,
Thanks for attending this tour, it is great that you enjoyed it.
I have forwarded your message to Stephane.

If you come back later with your family, just let us know and we can arrange something in the area, even if you come with a shed

Many thanks for organising the tour, some great twisty roads :drive and nice scenery. We enjoyed Fort Liberia, and Terra Vinea was the biggest wine cellar I've ever seen... and the Solar furnace was amazing.

It was nice to see the French E21/E30 club cars mixed with ours.

My Z1 ran without fault and did 2200 miles (=3540 kms) over 10 days in France, just now need to spend lots of hours cleaning it again after all the rain.

Stephane et Frédéric

Thank you for a great tour. Wonderful roads and interesting visits. We would like to return to this area with slightly more time to enjoy the fabulous scenery and quiet roads. Keeping up the fast pace on Saturday was a challenge but with the clear road book nobody got lost!
Thanks for letting us join in.

Dear Fred,

I just wanted to add my comments and thanks for the tour. We arrived home safely on Wednesday night, after around 1950 miles, through which the Z1 performed faultlessly, although it did seem a bit slow on some of those uphill sections on the way up to Mont Louis :(

The tour was great and we had a fantastic time. It gave us the excuse to bring the little car to France again and enjoy it in its natural, touring environment. We enjoyed all of the driving and sights of the tour and also found some fabulous non-motorway routes on our way home and enjoyed lots of wonderful food too.

Thanks again Fred and let us know when you have it in mind to do another! (No pressure :D )
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

Hello Sam,

Good to hear that you had a safe trip back.
Don't worry, your Z1 was not too slow, we just had 1 or 2 guys with heavy foot on gas pedal :D

For sure we will let you know if we have some new projects. :drive
