Do people who bid at auction just go over the top because of auction fever?

I cannot understand how something with a one hour warranty can attract a premium price.

The Bonhams one looked nice, I hope the new owner takes it easy at first due to the extended storage period.
Good times for sellers, harder going for us potential buyers
