Today's the BIG DAY - Marlene comes home

Post by John Downe »

After a couple of months without my Z1 it's coming back from the garage today. here's a list of what I got done and I've included the prices just to make you cry next time you get anything done in the UK

Making in glassfibreo f two new wings, two side panels and two seat backs
£290

Removal of all body panels, complete respray in Mystic Blue Metallic and painting of all new panels, reassembly £550 (an excellent job)

Reupholstery (in German material) of seats, gear lever gaiter and top of doors; custom made softtop £261

Alltogether £1101 and the car is totally transformed. I'll be posting some pictures soon!

The upholstery material I just got from a locasl reupholstery shop. Its not the original stuff whcih I think looks dreadful anyway and which doesn't suit the car at all. This one is plain blue and has little aeration holes in it.

Let me know next time you are in bahrain!

By the way there is a nice Z1 for sale here, they're asking BD7,500 (£10,000) which is very good by European prices but way overpriced for here -- Bahrainis tend to think old car=old junk

New Front Wings

Post by Maxaluna »

JOHN

As per my last post, I was the guy you chatted to on Knightbridge / Brompton Road

YOU HAVE HAD new wings made in Bahrain - I need both near side and off side front wings for my car and facing a bill of £362 for each + pain + labour which would probably make £1500

Do you think it would be possible to commission 2 wings to be done over in Baharain and get them shipped over here, with DHL - it would still surely be vastly cheaper then all I have to do it get them painted and fitted.

Would appreciate chatting to you about this.

kind regards
