What wheels fit a Z1?
What by way of a 16" BMW alloy would fit a Z1 other than the obvious Z1 alloys which aren't too common as spare sets?
I ask as I have a set of excellent 16" Dunlop winter tyres in the garage left over from my S3 which it would be great to be able to fit to the car come winter time given your average BM's hopeless performance on snow and ice.

Any E30 era wheels should fit. That said, 16" wheels were probably a rare option (other than the E30 M3) in the late 80's and early 90's. The bigger cars (5,6 and 7 series) all used 5 bolt wheels and with the E36 the 3 series went to 5 bolt wheels as well. I think the Z3, although based on the suspension of the E30, used 5 bolt wheels. Ditto for the E36 compact. So me thinks you need to look for aftermarket wheels.
(editted - E30 M3 appears to use 4 bolt wheels, as least according to www.realoem.com)

Interesting. That's would I would have said except that realoem lists some wheels in common between the E30 M3 and the E30 325. See http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do? ... showeur=onspokey wrote:The E30 M3 also used 5-stud alloys.
Every E30 M3 I've ever seen, heard of, or read about, has 5-stud alloys. I can only assume that Real OEM is wrong in this case.

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?
Just did a quick check ... seems realoem is wrong.

Hi Spokey,
I never doubted you; what you posted matches my recollection of the E30 M3. My comment was tongue in cheek; apologies if it came across that I was taking the proverbial.
Bottom line is: it's unlikely that there's a 16" factory wheel that will fit the Z1 other than the original as the E30 3 series was the last 4 bolt wheel BMW and 14" wheels were the norm.

Yes, even 15" 4-stud factory alloys are hard to find -- I struggled like mad to find some at a reasonable price for my E21 and eventually gave up.

Tree house racing in the US www.treehouseracing.com do a 5stud conversion for E30's dont know if it would go on the Z1 but if it did it would open up a whole host of possibilities!
