Bradshaw, good choice.
For the money you are about to pay, Its safer to get it inspected by the AA if you have no idea about these cars.

having purchased mine not so long ago, i focused on the following:

oil leaks,
internal and external condition,
originality, (radio, 16" alloys, tool kit etc)
The wheels arent buckled,
the leather has worn well,
Rear exhaust still good
Roof not leaking. (check under carpet)
Doors work, inside and out ( check history for last time door belt was replaced )
Bodywork is original...

No, EXCELLENT choice.
I'd echo everything that has been said. Only thing I would add is yes, be choosy, but make sure you get one, and soon - all the decent ones will be used up!
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

Buy the best one you can find with the fattest history file.

I saw some doggy ones on my search, especially if they have the grey alcantara/camouflage leather trim that ages badly and looks really quite hideous when tatty.

Try and get it inspected by someone who actually knows what they are looking at.

Make sure what you are getting has all the history and has been looked after. I do about 2,000 miles in mine a year and keep it garaged but run it every week for 4 miles to keep it ticking over. I purchased mine 8 years ago and am a bit fanatical about mine and know its probably one of the best looked after in the UK. Its serviced every year even doing the above mileage and MOT every year. Check exhaust as these are expensive if need to be replaced as just replaced my back box last week to pass its MOT which was 580.00 but I have never done one in two years. Check no water damage from leaky roof and check all carpets are clean and free from dirt. Mine is for sale and has all of the above and waxed and polished regularly but it would need to go to a good home if I sold it as its immaculate and not missing anything.
If this is of interest then please get in contact.

One for sale in Northern Ireland at the moment....

Consensus however is that it is very expensive.

I'd say "outrageously expensive".

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?
