Chrome Gator install

Post by Mikemac »

Bought a chrome gator and attempted to fit it last weekend. Got the existing one unclipped and slooted in the new one. Unfortunately the screws dont have anything to grip, plus the existing leather look awkward to remove form the plastic.

Has anyone else succesfully fitted one of these?

Thanks :)

Had this in my 1.9. Is it the "pilot sport" thing you bought?

The leather just sort of "peels off" from the plastic thing and you must then perforate it with the screws to keep it in place in the new gaitor surround.

The screws somehow caught on the inner edges of where the plastic thing used to rest and the whole thing sat nicely (although it still is a mystery to me how it remained in place!).

Hope you manage to do it, it looks terrific once in place :)

I managed to get the existing gator and surround down through the hole and then place the new surround in place for a satisfactory result, however i have yet to put the screws in place.

Yeah, thats the one.

The screws didnt grip anything in mine, maybe the 2.8 has slightly different console?

Will try again this weekend, think I will just need to fashion something up.
