User Names
User Names
I have noticed a growing trend over the last 12mths or so, of posters using the real name of someone instead of the user name when they reply to a posting, why?? Is it meant to show that you are one of the boy’s/girls and know a lot of the members personally??[ Egotistical]
Surly the whole point of having user names is to provide a little bit of anonymity and this is breaking that tradition, recently we have people posting under a user name and signing their post with their actual name, it seems a bit pointless to me.
If you choose a user name then that should be the name you wish to be known as and referred to as.

Are you a little Grumpy this morning Mich?
I do use the posters name if I have have met/had lots of contact with them on the Forum, I call it friendly.
If you do not wish to divulge your real name that's fine, your choice.

Sorry, can't really be bothered with whatever that tradition is that you mention. Those that post their names up in the manner in which you describe, usually know those they are conversing with, from various meetings. If we never organised meetings, and everything was kept to on forum contact, then yes, maybe sticking with usernames and not deviating would be the norm.Surly the whole point of having user names is to provide a little bit of anonymity and this is breaking that tradition
Go back to bed and when you get up, get out the opposite side this time.

Geez.
I think it's friendly to call others by their first name and quite respectful if it's known to you. I've never come across anyone on this forum that has asked me not to use their first name and revert to their username for anonymity sake!

To continue ::::: Some of us do use our first or Christian name but what ever name you choose actual or user, that is the one that should be used by other posters, it is just being polite otherwise why have user names?
If you can only be friendly using someone’s actual name then there is something wrong, it is internet protocol to use the user name whether you know the person or not. Grrrrrrrrrr, mumble mumble mumble.
