I'm loving this motor!

Post by TitanTim »

I just wish I didn't go looking at Zeds on the net  I'm loving this Zed and sorely tempted but I've only had my Titan a few months :|

Does it seem overpriced? also its supposidly only one in the country?

Any views?

But that colour and those lines 8-)

I paid £10995 for mine 5 months back

It seems this one has been listed a while which is probably why at the price, room for some negotiation I reckon :D

That colour looks great with the chrome, and it does indeed look immaculate. Doesn't cost anything to ask them what deal they could do on yours Tim. Early Crimbo pressie :P

I'm sure that this motor was on ebay a couple of weeks ago and if I'm not mistaken the highest bid was £6500 and therefore it didn't reach its reserve.

That would suggest to me it is somewhat over priced although I agree it's a nice looking motor. :)

I have to admit that is true, but lol I do prefer the facelift model and rear end, thats not knocking the M's I love them but I feel for me I would be just as happy with a non M model but facelift bodystyle.

Cheers Ade, yeah no harm in asking, its a buyers market and not a sellers, it would be nice though if I didn't trade in against though as you can bet they won't budge much on the sticker price, it is a bit pricey all the same, but low mileage, I wonder if they think the same lol.

This is what Parkers think it is worth but there would have to be an adjustment for the lower mileage

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-pric ... 6&plate=67

Like all motors its worth what someone is prepared to pay for it!

Dav, thanks for the Parkers Link, the price they're asking probably isn't that bad looking at Parkers, but I'm just thinking the way the market is at present and compared to Zeds generally it looks a bit steep. When I think what I paid for mine from a BMW dealer I need to see a doctor, so don't want to be paying over the odds again lol

Very nice car indeed. Price wise it is hard to say but I would expect at least a grand off that price, alot of people are going to be put off with the colour not that it is bad it is just people tend to stick with more conservative colours. From experience VAG cars in yellow tend to take longer to shift for that very reason so you could play on that fact and try to knock them down, they do say it is a buyers market at the moment as people are tightening the purse strings not many cars are being sold so they may drop to move it on.

Also noticed from the pics the drivers seatbelt has lost its little pip allowing the buckle to fall to the floor, minor I know but would be irritating to me.

I see it's just come back on ebay on auction so you can see if anyone is prepared to go any higher than £6500 this time

Colour is subjective I guess, I saw last week a Zed in the lime green, not sure what the correct colour is and it looked to my eyes awful on the Zed, I think the yellow works although not sure where the Dakar comes from? I just talked to my Girlfriend and she prefers the Silver and that it makes the Zed look like an insect in the yellow  :head: what does she know lol. Didn't notice the seatbelt, at the price it would have to be pretty much spot on although its a minor issue.

Great cheers Dav, I'm going to be keeping a close eye on this, if it doesn't sell then worth bargaining, will have to stop myself from bidding though lol

That does look great, I'm not a fan of chrome but I know you are, so it must really wet your appetite! :P

I'm not convinced it's the only one in the UK though, my friend works at bmw and it's not a simple procedure to check production models against body colours.

Basically it's their conclusion from not having seen one before, regardless of this, it's clearly a rare breed, but IMO it's too higher price for a Z3 model considering today's climate. I'd rather have put the money down on an E36 M3, I think....!

Always find it interesting how variable Dakar Yellow looks in photos. It looks overly pale in those pictures to me - very tricky colour to accurately capture in a photo.

Looks a bit overpriced as I think they are placing a premium on the rarity value. No harm in having a look though and seeing if they'll do a deal with your silver zed.

Tim it might be worth running an insurance quote for both the Z3M and the Z3 3.0. When I was in the process of buying my M the insurance quotes for the 3.0 and the M were the same. I think there will be little difference in fuel consumption between the S54M and the 3.0. I am not sure of the service costs for the 3.0 but there is quite a big difference for servicing between my 2.2 and the M. All things to have a ponder on.

I guess the other thing is that they did not make the S54M in Dakar as it had changed to phoenix by then. Phoenix is nice but I think the custard Dakar colour is lovely.

I guess the main consideration with this one is price to change if you trade in. If they offer you a lot for yours and charge a lot for the 3.0 or give a big discount on theirs and give a small amount for yours, if the difference to change is the same and you are happy with it then go for it.

Hi Whiteminks,

thanks for that, you know, I have not even given consideration to running costs, tax, fuel, servicing etc lol and something else I need to cinsider is I bought my current Zed on a little bit of finance from my BMW dealer as they did a better loan rate than the high street bank. I'm kinda concious also like others members have said its straight in M money territory as myredzed pointed out and then I'm going to be thinking I wished I had gone for an M at that kinda money. I've become really attached to my current Zed as I've done a fair bit of work on him to get it how I want. I'm also toying of selling the Corsa VXR as its less than 12 months old so still has some value lol, and keeping my current Zed and finding a Mint M with lowish mileage, easily said than done.

Keeping my eye on the Auction of the custard Zed as I want to see if it reaches the reserve.

Tim.

Hmmmmm as Yalden pointed out I not convinced either on the rarity value, I'm wondering how the seller knows lol,

The seller did put a question mark after that comment so I would say he doesn't know and is open to somebody proving him wrong, most people wouldn't know any different :?

How about this M for which you are invited to make an offer. I don't expect it wouldn't be far off similar money.

Dav, cheers for the link :) now thats a tasty M, I'm still not sure I would go for an M though, I think I really need to drive the 3.0 and an M to really know which one would be for me, but that looks a fine M :D

Well it didn't make the reserve again lol and has just been re-listed on fleabay. I have been told catagorically that I'm not having a yellow Zed  my hand are tied :|

Were starting to think that maybe next year flog the Corsa VXR and trade the Z3 in for a Z4 but I would have to drive the Z4 and to be totally convinced looks wise, I would be a loathed to sell the Z3 now :shake:

Well next year is ages away yet lol.
