Mr Luke

Personally the chrome gills do nothing for me apart from perhaps on a silver car.

The ///M gills do look cool and there was a mod posted on here recently debadging them and filling the space before respraying. They looked very sleek and you won't get accused of pretending to be an ///M :wink:

Agreed, they look great... but I'd like to be a little more different and go with the BMW Individual grills... it's just the cost that puts me off!

I got the wheels as they are, in a sorry state of repair but with decent tyres all for £200. Not bad for genuine 18" ACS Splits, I guess the incorrectly spelt ebay ad didn't do the seller many favours!

I've always thought the individual gills would look good with the BMW roundel removed and smoothed - never seen it done yet.

And another vote for the smoothed M gills on a Z3 - here's mine

Cool.

I have the original 2000 ///M series brochure but it does not show the individual options, I assume it was a seperate brochure?

The individual gills would certainly be unique as I have not seen them on a car before but I think I like your current ///M style better.

Also I don't like the bodykit fitted and that hood cover :nono .

Mine has the chrome door handles and I can't decide if I like them or not :shrug

I guess if you want rarity the Hamann gills would be an option (although I think these might only be available second hand now as I don't think hamann make them anymore?):

Best looking without a doubt for me is the smoothed M gills. The others look a bit "cheap" to me. Other than that the standard Z3 gills are nice (but not in chrome :lol: )

I'm the same.. I prefer the smoothed M gills or the stock ones.. just seem to suit the lines of the car better IMO..

I always wanted to see what they'd look like on a montreal blue one - but hadn't seen any pics.. until I came across this one.. (nice hamann roof as well! LOL!!) - although the gills do need smoothing! LOL!:

I don't think you have to do very much to these cars to make them look nice - as the above pics show. There's not really anymore you would want to do to that IMHO.. :) 8-)

And M wing mirrors :wink:

The roof is ace.

I think after seeing the alternative that the smoothed M is by far the nicest and would be rare enough for me :D

yep..

///M mirrors
///M front bumper
///M side gills
///M rear light clusters
Hamann roof
18" Rial Daytona Alloys (8.5" in front and 9.5" rears)

he's also changed the interior - full black sports seats and ///M interior/console... probably one of the nicest Z3's I've seen.. :)

Hi Yalden

If you decide to sell I will definitely buy them, I have chrome grills see pic below and will be selling these if I get yours or alternatively we could exchange plus some cash your way?

Use the Search button before posting newbie questions about hard tops and fitting kits, footwell speaker amps, water in the boot, hood maintainance and those horrific angel eyes. We get like 10 threads a week on the same subject, it's obvious that you haven't searched.

Which makes me wonder- there are loads of aftermarket fibreglass body parts out there, skirts bumpers and the like, why not more roof options? The oem roof doesnt quite do it for me, this hamaan one makes the car SEXY. Are there any others out there?

Its called the Speedster cover and fits to the hardtop mounts. It comes in two versions - one for cars with hoops and one cars for without. It splits into three so that it will go in the boot (just). Several threads about it if you search for "speedster".

Someone was selling one of these last year I think it was. It's the speedster cover I think :oops:
It didn't sell, looks like a dog IMHO! Also it's hard so if you get caught in rain despite it coming in three pieces it won't fit in your boot if youve got anything else in it so be prepared to get wet :head:

I couldn't put it better myself! Like all things aimed at impressionable Americans, it is junk! Just imagine having to get out of the car, remove and stow the cover (if there is room in the boot) and then raise the roof. Even given that it seldom rains in California, it is still awful! I guess someone must like it . . . maybe it is designed for people with a James Dean fixation, who would like a Porache 356 Speedster.

I like the wheels on this car, though.

I know this is an old thread, revived, but I'm really taken by the smoothed M side grilles. Can the M grilles still be bought new or are they only a secondhand option? I'm not keen on the chrome ones, but I fancy a change from the standard ones on my non M Z3.

Thanks! I found another link but they were £260. Probably other things I need to spend money on, but I've saved the link in case I feel a bit flush later. :D

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
