Instrument cluster bulb description

Post by BonBon »

Does anyone have a diagram/list of the bulbs that are at the bottom of the instrument panel (under the odometer)?
I suspect a couple of my bulbs are burnt out (from before I got the car) but I have no idea what is meant to be there.
Thanks

Good find!

Good find Si, (second link)
I have both front and back fog lights (OEM). I found a few owner's manuals online but none had both. (eg http://home.arcor.de/z3qp/anleitung/anleitungengl.pdf)
I thought it was strange that the front fogs did not have a bulb in the cluster. Something to do today..........
.............if I can find some shade.

I accessed the rear of the cluster. No need to remove the wheel or even completely remove the instrument cluster.

To my surprise, there was only a bulb/housing in the rear fog slot (illuminates yellow) despite having OEM switches for both.
Inserting a suitable 1.2W 12V bulb/housing into the front fog slot - it also worked. (Illuminates green)
After 12 years my front fogs finally had a bulb to represent them in the dash. :D

I was told by a couple of locals that the front fogs were not standard which may explain the lack of a bulb/housing.
Still a qwerk... the front fog switch was on the right of the rears, but its green dash bulb was on the left side. Being a combination of anal & compulsive I put it right by disconnecting the plug of the switches from behind and turning them both around by 180 degrees and reconnecting.

Tip #1 that took me a couple of minutes to figure out - pull out the cluster by alternatively inserting a small screw driver into the "ears" which had the torx screws which hold the cluster in place.

Tip #2 - easier to remove the bulb/housing with a 6mm socket with your fingers (no need for the ratchet and the risk of scratching the dash. Just be careful that the socket does not fall behind the dash)

You can see both green (pale on left side) and yellow fog bulbs illuminating.

Hey, the dash looks great in the pics - it never looks so clear when driving (without the reading glasses). The perils of getting a roadster as part of a middle age crisis.
