What is this tube?

This pic of the fabulously detailed Lakes Lee car (hope you don't mind) shows a tube that forms a rectangular frame in front of the rad on myZ3 (and Lakes Lee's). Does anyone know what it is please? Mine is a bit corroded and if, as I suspect it's part of the aircon, I want to protect it from further rusting.

If thats shot well worth checking condition of the lower PAS pipework too.

I bit the bullet & caused replacement of the lot plus the slightly leaking PAS hose.

Like you I considered maintenance better than failure.

Stuff like this important to me.

The picture is lifted from LakesLee's posting on another thread. It showed the pipe better than my picture so I used it. It IS clean isn't it? Wish mine was as clean as that but I bought my car fairly recently and have been too busy with other things to do a proper clean up yet.

Good of you not to take the credit

Some folk can appear to place higher priorities on mods and shininess as opossed to bread & butter maintenance. Nothing wrong with the former but basic car integrity is the priority for me.
