Hi All,
I keep getting my oil light popping up telling me its low, but everytime i check there is more than enough oil in the car. Last it was checked it was half way between min and max, needed to get some more oil hence why it wasnt filled all the way but still should not show until it reaches the min level? Any one had this on theirs?
Oil light keeps popping up
It has reached it's 'Electronic' low level

oil light
hi all
my oil light has started to come on also,i noticed it when going up or down asteep hill, and also acouple of times after switching off the engine it stayed on.the car had a full service 1000mls ago and the oil level is ok new filter etc. could it be a faulty sensor somewhere any ideas.
I`ve had the car six months with no previous problems.

I've also noticed this "phenomenon" (I don't think it's a problem*) with the oil light.
We live near a notorious 1:4 hill and after descending it the oil light will sometimes "blink" and stay on for a few seconds after the ignition is switched off.
It only happens on the descent and when the oil level is below half-way between the marks on the dipstick.
Topping up the oil cures it but I have found I can add almost 1 litre of oil even when it indicates "half-way" on the stick.
Some of these engines do consume more oil than others, but I don't think this is considered abnormal. It depends on how it has been treated through its life.
No doubt someone will correct me if this is wrong
(* unless there is a problem with the sensor. This can easily be changed but needs to coincide with a full oil change)
