Any one know where I can get a reasonably priced Ally brace for a 1.9?
Cheapest I can find is an E tech for £130 could do with a cheaper alternative :)

Yep 'Hang em high' is spot on.

That's where I got mine, seems like a very honest and reliable seller.

I looked at this one but I have doubts it would fit correctly and probably get in the way of the bonnet when closed :(

Look at http://www.wiechers-sport.de. Ordered one from them the other day.
Polished Aluminum 169€ p&p included.

Should be good stuff according to the german forum.

do etechs at £122 for 4 cylinder and £117 for 6 cylinder models. Cheapest etechs I've managed to see yet.
My penny jar is filling gradually but deciding on priorities is always the problem. A strut brace is well up on the list though.

If anyone is brave enough to fit an e-tech brace to a 4cyl Zed please post some pics and whether there are any bonnet clearance issues

I know Canman bought an OMP brace but last I heard the bonnet wouldn't shut once fitted :(

Cheers,

Tim.

I have just bought and fitted one of these ones...

http://www.chromiumtech.co.uk/product.asp?pID=94&cID=15

Was easy to fit and is plenty of clearance under the bonnet. I have seen the same one on other websites for £160....

Tim some photo's of the OMP brace fitted. the bonnet would not shut and some modifications are need to the bonnet strengthening and some machining down of the brace's web's.member ZEDBAR has done this and says its worth doing. i have not done this as still not decided whether its worth the trouble. so i have taken it back off.
im not sure if there is a strutt brace for the m43 engine that is a simple bolt on. :head:

All the pics I've seen of the brace on a 4 cyl have the brace mounted the other way round :rtm:

Cheers for posting the pics, to be honest I wouldn't fancy modifying the Zed to make a brace fit and think you might be right that there doesn't appear to be one that fits straight on, hope I will be proven wrong and someone will post some pics of one fitted without any mods.

Its kinda gone down my list now lol

i might be wrong but the 16v M44 1.9 has a lot more room around the back and a brace can be fitted more easily. these are what you may have seen. as you can see from my pics the 8v M43 1.9 has little room at the back so therefore the OMP comes forward. but still doesn't fit properly :head:
