Can anyone please recommend a good independant garage in the North West around if possible the Wigan - Warrington area.

Not in Warrington or Wigan, but I use BMTec in Manchester if that helps. They are good - going back in tomorrow actually for more work.

There is a stamp in my service book from:

http://www.davidpaulofwarrington.co.uk so might be worth trying them, although I cannot vouch for them.

Also Peter Michaels in Bolton - just behind Sainburys.

Lowton - you must be less than 2 miles from me - I live near Leigh Cricket Club.

I would use David Paul.

They are just about to move to J221 M6 but website here.

I used them a couple of times last year and they were fantastic. Some of their after sales I saw with other customers whilst waiting was 2nd to none. They even refused to do some work on mine as it was unneccesary even though it would have been easy money for them.

I've now moved to Liverpool and am gutted they are too far away but if I had a major issue I would still use them ;-)

I used Northwest BM at Horwich recently following a recommendation from the forum. They did a quick, thorough job at a reasonable price. I'm likely to go back there again.

Firstly thanks to everyone for the information !!!
Badboyblue : the colour is right but not mine, i frequent the Church Inn but work close to the Hare and Hounds. There is another silver Z3 at the back of Lowton Labour Club so that may have been it.

Hi, I use Darren Wood BMW specialists in Bredbury near Stockport. I know this is the other side of Manchester but Darren and Mike are spot on lads and know their stuff (both ex Blue Bell BMW). They have also featured in BMWcc magazine. Its worth the drive.. :drive

I use NorthwestBM at Horwich. They seem very competent and well priced. They also loan me a runabout at no extra cost because I live a fair way off and need a car for the day.

And the guy on the desk is a technician who explains the work done - not some spotty youth who is cheap to employ but knows nowt about Zeddies.

I had seen NWBM at Horwich advertised but I'd only spoke to a couple of people who had used them and they both said (independently) that they felt they had done unnecessary work... just their opinion I suppose but it kinda put me off.

I've been trekking to BMW at Warrington but I drive past the Reebok every day so NWBM would be convenient.

Would you happily recommend them then ? What work were you having done?

I had all four shockers and the front suspension bushes replaced.

Until that work was done, the wheels spent more time in the air than on the road and the roadholding was terrible - lethal, in fact. Now, it's perfect.

I'd have no hestitation in going there again.
