z3 2.8 - cutting out from cold - please help

Post by Joff »

hi all,

my other half has recently purchased a z3. 2.8 1998 model

she absoulty loves it

but we have a slight problem

from cold, she will start it up and go to drive, near enough everytime the car willo throw a tantrum and cut out, she will proceed to start it back up, and it will start fine then it will drive fine, sometimes it cuts out two or three times in a row, this problem only ever happens from cold, it doesnt happen when hot

has anybody any ideas??

any help will be greatly apreciated

Hi,

Do a search on Engine Idle. Lots of possibilities:

This is a few from the M-Roadster section:

Could well be cam sensors from your description as when they start playing up it is usually temperature related. They are relatively easy to change see my thread in the knowledgebase here;
