Insurance is a joke.

I started off 3 years ago paying £288 fully comp on my '98 2.8, then I was 25-26, 7 years ncb, no points. esure

Now aged 29, 10 years protected ncb, unfortunately 6 points now. 3 come off next year. The cheapest price I can find is £700+

They rob you because they know that genuine people that abide by the law etc. will pay because they need cars to work, get about and its almost a neccesity in life. I have been told that by a close friend thats a supervisor for an insurance call center in Cardiff. Its a con

Age does sometimes have an advantage.

I have three cars insured fully comp maximum 8000miles/year for each car for myself and my wife with a multicar policy.

1997 Z3 1.9 Auto: £154.19
1997 ZM roadster: £217.76
2010 525D Touring: £239.74
Total: £611.69

I don’t think this is too bad.

New insurance from today £310 full comp. 2002 2.2 sport. 8000 miles per year. Liverpool Victoria. My own search. :)

Previous insurance through AA wanted £519, a £200 increase. AA found another insurer Liverpool Victoria for £416.

I go through this procedure every year.

I'm 20 with a z3 2.8 , 3 years ncb and never crashed. Full uk clean driving licence. They charged me £2500 last year and I haven't looked at this years but I was watching the one show on tv the other week and they said insurance has gone up by 42% for 17-24 year old males. This is very bad news for me and the z because it means goodbye z, I really don't want to have to but may be left with no options.

This is on an 02 S54 Z3M, 6000miles pa

Very reasonable, i paid around £650-£700 last year

I'm just about to go with Swiftcover for £190 fully comp, including legal cover and £150 excess on a year 2000 2 litre with the wife as a named driver. That's after a renewal quote of nearly £400 from the co-op for the same deal. I went on the Go Compare site and found it really useful and easy to use. Those adverts may be irritating to the point of being painful but they have obviously worked on me! :shake:

this is crazy...mine runs out soon.

renewal quote I thought was Ok at £520 fully comp, £250 excess, 3 points, modified wheels (and any non-performance enhancing mod), protected no-claims.

gocompare best is Sainsburys at £667

directline want £1050!

insurance is a joke!

Gonna have to take the Adrian Flux renewal offer.

Hi Tori, it must be your second car (not your daily driver) and Hagerty will insure it on a Classic policy. None of this old tosh about strut braces, change of wheels, cow bells or whatever. You deal with adult people and the price is right. Mention this forum. 0844 824 1130

I have no affiliation with them, just a satisfied customer.

Hope this helps. Regards

Hi All

Did wonder whether this could possibly be a reason for insurance companies increasing premiums this year, take a look at

Renewal quote off the AA was for £370 (about £100 more than last time!) and they would only drop to £330 when I told them they were being undercut.
Managed to get similar cover from Hastings for only £230........some companies are hungrier, or can afford to take a bit lees profit!

Sorry to drag up an old topic, but after a lot of shopping around for my renewal which is due, have just saved an extra £50 off my insurance, and have european cover thrown in as well, where my old insurer charged extra.

Just shows that this site is better than all the comparison web sites put together :D

It's cheap - out in rural France, where there is no competition, I pay 1200 euros for the 2.8 Z3, with full NCB etc. At least it's stable.

I was absolutely dreading this year's renewal! I thought it was gonna be bye bye z :(

I'm with Admiral, just renewed a couple of days ago. Last years was £1600 with no NC. I now have 1yr NC. I got my renewal quote through (£1096) went on comparethemarket and found it for £610 with Diamond. Called up Admiral, told them I found it cheaper elswhere and asked them to match it, no quibble, matched it! Thank god for Admiral :D

I had my zed with Beewise and my wifes fiesta with the Pru but switched to Admiral this month.
All my ncb is on the fiesta so no ncb on the zed, took out multiple cover for both cars for £700 the biggest attraction was that with Beewise the zed was limited to 3000 miles, now with Admiral its 10,000 miles so looking forward now to lots of happy motoring. I recommend Admiral think their on site application form was realy clear. Oh and that price was with two naughties recorded on my licence!!

Yea, it is a good price. Im with 'BELL', a specialist part of Admiral in case anyones interested. Took out the policy when I only had 2yrs no claims, which met their criteria. You have to have a low NCB for them to accept you. A least they used to anyway.

One thing i can say, is that they undercut everyone. I shop around every year and they always beat the competition by at least £150.

Hi all I went back with my RAC policy, it was up by £30 this year which was £278 including the legal bit. I did go through the confused .com but they were only £10 cheaper, and thought it better to stay where I am.

Just received renewal notice from Aviva. It is now £269, that is an increase of £5 from last year.

After shopping around I could not find better, includes legal and courtesy car and I only have 2 years NCB on the Zed as I had owned kit cars as 2nd vehicle which do not attract NCB, at least not from Adrian Flux.
