Newbie 2.8 Lady Owner

Post by so_samantha »

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a 1997 2.8 Roadster. i wanted one for ages and love it.

Can anyone help me with a couple of questions please?

1. It mentions a cupholder in the handbook next to handbrake.. I can't see it? Just seems to be a big slot there and an ashtray.

2. I have a heated rear window button that lights up.. how does it work when the hard top is on? dosent seem to be any wiring?

Thanks

Which manual? The Z3 did not have cupholders as standard, at least not in the UK. There is an armrest thing you can buy with cupholders in it. TBH if you are driving it properly, your coffee would not stay in the cup anyway.

There is a connector on the passenger side rear clamp. There are two contacts which are pressed against a corresponding pair of contacts on the roof when the clamp is fastened. With the hardtop off, the switch still operates the relay, but the circuit is broken at the contacts, so it doesn't do anything.

Post some piccies of your zed when you get a chance. :P

Cheers R.

Welcome and enjoy! I second the motion to get some photos up! Also just be careful with the car as at this time of year the roads can be bad enough, never mind being in a new and powerful rear wheel drive roadster with lots of wheel spinny goodness on wet slippy roads!

Hi Samantha,

Welcome to the forum

As Robert T mentioned there are no cupholders but you can get an armrest with integrated holders

Hi,

Thankyou to all for the warm welcome, looking forward to putting the car through it paces, and hopefully not spilling my coffee :)

I will put some piccies on soon.

Thanks Rob for the info. The manual I have is a Z3 Owners Handbook ( Ref :- 01 41 9 789 951 ). It does say on it only 1.8 & 1.9 models but would assume they are the same inside? The reference to the cup holder is on page 68 under the "storage bins" section.

The console looks good so Ill try and get hold of one.

Very nice looking Zed looks good with the hardtop. Thanks for reminding me that I've got a set of the 5 spoke wheels stored in the garage that I started to refurbish last year - must get them finished

Welcome to the forum Samantha,
Nice colour :)
I have a removable cup holder in mine, it also makes the tea does the washing and generally looks after me :) I call it 'the other half' :)
