Boot, battery, unhelpful garages everywhere!

Post by Lazeodoom »

As mentioned before, the boot lock is stuck. Not frozen, I can hear the electrics whirring and could central lock the car at the boot, but the lock is stuck in 'locked'. Did I mention this happened while the boot was open? The BMW Indy garage I use is, naturally, chocka with poorly Beemers at the mo and I can't get in until next week.

Becuse its frozen round here I've left the car and used public transport etc all week. Now is the battery dead, completely discharged, or is something more fundamentally (fatally) wrong?

Help!

I'm having a battery starter brought over today but its a bit of a worry.

Sorry to hear about the boot lock, the battery going flat could just be a symptom of the boot being left open and the light being on.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Yep, the boot light is enough to give you a flat battery

In that case, is there any way to get the boot light turned off?

Easiest way is to pop out the light and remove the bulb, this will be a quick fix until the boot is working again.

Just done it as this refreshed, the bulb was red red red hot! I was wondering why the battery had died so quickly, because the boot lock is locked but still open the lid is slightly proud of the car (until I sort out the fix) so I couldn't see that the light was on!

In any case the old battery had been in for 6 years, not bad going bearing in mind my old Orion had a new battery every year!

Just remembered reading above (for your info)

Edit :- See that you have just done it.
