Digital to analogue clock

Post by CoachOz »

Hello from Australia

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the digital clock in a 97 2.8 with the analogue clock from the late e30?

Welcome to the forum CoachOz.
I have problems reading the digital clock in sunlight (even in Scotland) with top down so would be a good modification if it would fit.
Maybe someone will know for sure.
Dave.

Digital to analogue clock

Thanks for your welcome Dave.

Apart from being hard to read it also looks out of place with the rest of the cockpit.

I take delivery of my 2.8 in a week - then I'll post some pics. Pity I found this forum after I bought my car as there is some good info here about known issues - I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the spot welds in the boot!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Check first that the digital clock is not also the OBC (On Board Computer), as it would sad to lose that for just a clock.

You could potentially retrofit an ///M console and have a round analogue clock in that - trying to get one to fit the square hole for the digital clock in the standard dash may be more difficult.

Cheers R.

I think Peter may be thinking of something like this,

about quarter of way down

Robert. I agree it would be a pity to lose the OBC - I have to admit I that when I test drove the 2.8 I assumed a clock not OBC. So I'll wait until I pick up the car to see what I really have.

Dave that's exactly right - the same as in an e30 I had many years ago - BM number 6 (I'm now up to 10)

Got the wristwatch - its analogue! Also keeping the clock as it is part of OBC, which I don't want to lose.

Could always relocate the OBC somewhere else - put mine in my armrest when I fitted an M console to my Z3

Good thinking 99! Pity the armrest hinges on the driver's side.
