How do you remove the handbrake gaitor?

Hi
Happy New Year to everyone.

I have a new gear knob gaitor and handbrake gaitor to fit to my car and have fitted the gear gaitor no problem.

With the handbrake gaitor I can release the the bottom section by squeezing the plastic base but the top section is baffling me.

Could someone please advise how this is removed?
