Poly or inserts

Post by skygrasssky »

What are your thoughts on rear beam bushes, polybush or the inserts from the guy in the states. Zed is a 97 2.8, I've replaced front wishbones and polybushed them and replaced drop links so want to sort rear end out now.

Inserts

Inserts are easy enough to fit, and certainly make a small difference, but removal of the bushes is not an easy job.

Fit inserts first, and see what you think.

Rather than mess around replacing the bushes, go for a Butt Strut, which is worth about 50% of my various handling improvements.

I've got some inserts but so far I've been unable to get the nuts undone. I have tried soaking in WD40 and using a 1m extension pipe on a spanner but they won't budge. I'm thinking to ask a garage to install them now as I don't want to sheer off the bolts.

I'd recommend checking you can undo the nuts first...

No problem with the nuts for me as I have already had the beam off to check the existing bushes. Has anyone any knowledge of the polybushes squeaking when fitted to the rear beam. I seem to remember someone on here who changed back because of this.
