Abs pump

Post by Midsomer Mikey »

Can anyone help I have had the abs /acs lights on for months
not worried about it as brakes work fine.
I have change the front sensors as the old ones i had to drill out they would`t budge, I manage to get the rear ones out and cleaned them ,the
lights still on after a week.Should i now be thinking of changing the pump?
If so the oem part number 34511164333 is not the same as the one on the
car which is 34511164896 also i have found one 34512229827 which comes up as one for an z3m would this work ?

My car is a jan 99 1.9 z3 can anyone help please :)

It might be worth getting the fault codes read, (or buy a cheap reader an read the codes yourself). This could point you in the right direction and save ££££s on expensive guestimates.

That's a good suggestion as there are many other factors which could cause the ASC/ABS light to illuminate.

The sensors are (generally) the primary culprits, but they rely on a trigger signal from the hub.
I understand that these can lose their castellations thereby giving an unexpected signal which materialises as a warning light.

Do remember that although your brakes will continue to work, you will not have any ABS or ASC - ie just like cars used to be

Yup get the code read and that will tell whats wrong. I wouldnt fit a z3m unit. Its likely to have different settings for rear bias so best not risk affecting how the braking works.

jsut because you have cleaned rears does not mean they need replacing. I cleaned mine and fault still showed up. Got the codes read replaced theone that showed faulty and had no problems.....that was two years ago.

Right had the fault codes read using a u480 memo scanner
came up with p0100 Maf A circuit malfunction
p0130 o2 sensor circuit malfunction(bank 1 sensor 1)
p0135o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1 )

No faults on the abs/acs yet dash lights still on :!:

With regards to the faults above I have read on the forum you can clean the maf sensor with carb cleaner can you clean the lambda sensor or is it bight the bullet and get a new one :?:

Next thing on the abs/acs lights is to check the switch :!:

any help greatly appriciated :)

The scanner you used only reads engine codes.

You need one which can get the body and abs codes.

Went through same as you with my z3,had same probs removing front sensors with great difficulty. Removing and renewing both to no avail.
Checked rears (having cleaned both)and found one was open circuit whilst the other one measured 1028 ohms.

save yourself further grief and fit new rears.

Mine came off eBAY No.31302608757 at around£36 the pair or alternatively, buy one and try on both sides.

P.S. mine is same year as yours and at 51k had already had one rear sensor replaced by stealer,as luck would have it,it was the origonal
that let me down.
