Well i knew i should have stayed in bed !
I spent the morning levelling the engine in the car and tweeking the gearbox cross member to make everything dead level and straight. Job done.
Removed the engine and gearbox from the car and as i lowered it to the deck i heard a 'ping'
i knew what it meant, bugger. After separating the box from the engine i have found 2 cracks about 40mm long.
I could buy a new bellhousing from the states, but i could also Tig weld the 2 cracks.
Has anybody on here had a go at tig welding alloy ? I have a few years back but i'm not 100% on its final strength on a part like this? Should i give it a go ? I am in two minds

Cracked bellhousing - to weld or not to weld
Still modifying
Weld it, if it all goes wrong then get a new one.
