corroded bits round the clips that atach the hood to the car
Just around the clips that attach the hood to the car there are some corroded patches they seem to be getting bigger!
what shall i do?
can you buy just that piece or do you have to buy the whole frame?

I am having the same problem - the black paint has lifted from the left and right sides of the hood frame where it meets the windscreen revealing white powder and bare metal below it.
Keen to get it fixed - is it aluminium? Is it just a case of spraying it with an appropriate paint?

I had the same problem .... when I painted my callipers Hammerite smooth black , I painted the top part of the hood to get rid of the flaking parts .... looks good now

I did the same as PCSAM. Looks good. Obviously there are some kind of corrosion going on with different metals in contact creating a corroding current.

I bet this kind of corrosion is due to the paint being damaged by people who wear rings, or have long finger nails - mine is fine after 13 years, but rings and long nails are not among my many vices!

Looking at the photos of this, the corrosion looks to start from under the paint and lifts it off in large flakes, in a similar manner to the mirror bases. If repainting, I suspect that an etch primer would be required, though the original finish looks more like powdercoat that paint.

I just logged in to search for this! Cheers
My Zed has got this issue. More so on the passenger side, the paint just lifts off in quite large flakes.
Ordered a small tin of Hammerite smooth black from Amazon for £6.50.....now need to find a brush!

did mine last summer, used Hammerite smooth satin black spray can, sanded it back to smooth out the edges over spray it over the non corroded parts.
When you look at mine you wont even know its been done.

I had the same problem - very common on aluminium roof frames of all makes. I used this, which gave a perfect texture match:

Thanks for this, I have the same problem, have been scratching my head and was about to buy some of this stuff;

but the halfords stuff looks a better bet, as well as cheaper.

Practice on something else, as the finish is determined by how much paint you put on at a time. I also warmed the part of the frame I was painting with a heat gun (being careful not to melt the window or set fire to the roof!) as the finish is also affected by how quickly the solvents in the paint flash off.
