Can anyone recommend a decent windscreen chip repair kit?

Post by Gazman68 »

Hi guys,

Just been cleaning my Zed and have re-noticed lots of tiny chips in my windscreen :(

Sure a blind man would be pleased to see them but I know they are there and are becoming quite annoying.

Can anyone recommend a product they have used and been pleased with the results... Yes I know there are a ton of products on fleabay but which one to choose!!??

Cheers

If you're fully comp insured you'll probably be able to get it done for free with Autoglass and it doesn't affect your NCB.

CHECK THEIR SITE FOR DETAILS - CLICKY

We booked it all on-line for 1 of our cars and they did a really great repair to a dodgy chip, can't see it now :thumb:

Thanks for the reply; I did actually have a crack repaired around a year ago, when I booking the job in it felt like I was asking for the girls Kidney!! Oh the questions.....how big, how small, how round, how bad etc....anyhoo got the repair done in the end

Its just that my 'many' chips are very small to be honest and I really dont know if my insurance company would be interested as none of them are bad cracks (Subject to opinion I know)

I've got comp insurance so I guess a call wouldn’t hurt... I can almost hear the reply right now tho :head:

You do it all on line with Autoglass - no need to speak to anyone

I never spoke to my insurance company - they did everything..

Same for me last year on my previous Zed.

They repaired 3 chips.

I used to get a bagful of new chips for 1.25p
It wasn't worth repairing them

Had my screen replaced a month or two ago, same as you it looked a bit tired, had an 'advisory' on the new MoT, took it to Autoglass for a repair (free) a 'nod' and a 'wink' with the fitter that I was not happy with the repair which he agreed   and had a new screen fitted instead, ok it cost £75 excess but it looks so much better!

It's worth checking with your insurance company first which companies they approve for free repairs. Mine only approve National Windscreens.
