Passenger door pull

Post by 100GRA »

My wife, who obviously doesn't know her own strength, closed the passenger door with the door pull the other day and the top mounting came away from the door.

It looks as if something inside the door has broken off, and it looks as though it might be expensive (I am taking the car in to Cooper Malton next Wednesday to let them have a look at it).

Easing the handle back from the door slightly, I can see some black plastic and what looks like some kind of foam insulation or packing stuff (see picture). Has anybody had any experience of this?

Here is a link to door card removal. The one shown being removed is the drivers side with mirror switch.

On the passenger side the handle has a blank covering the mounting screw which screws into a plastic or metal 'speednut' on the door inner skin.

If you scroll down past the pictures of door card removal, there is a picture of the door inner skin.

The door handle is screwed to the door inner skin and not the door card,so a 'soggy' door card should not cause the handle to pull away.
