Aerial removal on Z3 roadster - Advice please.

Post by Gelert »

Hi!

I want to remove the radio aerial from my Z3 roadster so that I can fit a cover over the car when I go away. The owner's manual says that it just twists off, but it seems immovable. I don't want to force it.

There is a through-hole at the base of the aerial. Is this for inserting something to twist off the aerial?

Thanks for your help.

Gelert. :)

The aerial its self should screw off, leaving a base about 10 mm high :D

It's really really tight. I'm afraid it will knacker it. WD-40??

It definatly screws off but be careful as it is a brass thread and has been know to shear off leaving you with an even bigger problem.

put a tea towel round it for some grip & twist to the left or... there is a lip where the ariel joins the base about 10 mm up, try to get some oil in there & leave it until tomorrow

Thanks Bill and Aceman. I took your advice and was very careful. A precise squirt of WD-40 did the trick. I was just unsure about unscrewing it at first, but it obviously does. Thanks. :)
